I've been coming to here for at least 2 years now. I loved the extensive menu for the different types of Japanese food available but I'm sorry to see that Carlos Pinto (Carlos Jr) may no longer be offering his special tendon tempura since the menu has changed and there is no more sashimi/salmon/tuna bowls. I recently tried his Tendon Tempura in Pasadena, CA and I was looking forward to having more here in DFW because I remembered his logo and saw him in the kitchen before. I hope he will eventually open his own here :)

It's okay. Food was not as tasty and a little overpriced. Service and atmosphere were great.

The place is good, It’s overpriced thought, although the food looks good it’s not that tasty, and even rebought the have a sign outside that says free ice cream it only qualifies for kids (no idea why they won’t specify) I would say it’s a cute place but over all the food and the price is not worth it

The food was fine. Edible, but nothing to write home about.

You are forced to order and pay through the Toast application. There is no customer service whatsoever. If you have questions about the menu, you are basically left to figure it out on your own. After you place the order yourself through the website and enter in any customizations you might need yourself, they have the audacity to ask for a 22% tip.

Won’t be back. There are much better options with a 1 mile radius and actually have servers / customer service.

Had lunch at this adorable spot, and really enjoyed it.

The restaurant is clean and inviting, and I like the variety of the menu, though on our visit several items were marked off on the menu, and the fish curry I initially ordered wasn’t available. Portions are generous, and I felt the experience was a good value for the money.

The pork katsu curry was delicious - maybe the best I’ve had (though I have not been to Japan). The katsu was tender and crispy, the sauce was very flavorful, and the accompaniments were fresh and tasty. My friend got an udon/tempura combo and really liked it as well.

The service was lovely, but the timing of the food coming out was a little weird. I got my entree about 10 minutes before the other entree arrived, and the sushi came out a while after that.

Will happily dine here again and recommend it to friends.

Soggy food. Tempura was soggy. Katsu was soggy. Udon was very salty (maybe ok if you like super salty food). Curry was subpar. Appetizer came out after all the other food. Messed up our order. Understaffed. Decent looking place, but lots of kids were running around, in and out of the restaurant, so probably not a good place for a date. There is better Japanese food in in DFW.

I really wanted to try out Tokyo Shokudo tonight. We weren't greeted on Walk-in and waiting about 10 min to be sat down but we still sat down. We waiting for 20 min and noone came to take our order. My husband had to call some one over to take our order, once we tried to order; we were told they didn't have what we had ordered so we decided to leave.
We noticed we were the only table not being waited on during that period.

Personally, as someone who works in the restaurant industry, I feel that it's uninviting and rude to treat first time customers this way.
The photos for the food looked sooo good, I'm just sad I didn't get try it out tonight. We don't get many date nights and this one surely wasted our time.

We typically have a great experience at Tokyo Shokudo, but today's visit was marred by a couple of negatives. On the plus side, the staff was as friendly as ever and and the lunch started out great. Unfortunately things went south for one of us when the food arrived.

The problem was that the yakiniku grilled beef in the set meal was 100% fat. I understand that beef in Asian dishes is often not what Americans are used to, especially in China. And having had beef yakiniku a few times when in Tokyo on business I also understand that beef in some Japanese dishes can contain a high percentage of fat. But the meat in this yakiniku was just a mound of pure translucent fat. As my daughter tried to choke some of it down I began to regret bringing us all here for my wife's birthday.

That would have been just a single negative except for the fact that we were never able to get the waitresses attention after we had long finished eating and wanted to pay the bill. While it's nice to not be pressured to leave when you're visiting with family, this went way beyond that. Our daughter, son in law and their kids finally couldn't wait any longer and left. We sat around trying to catch someone's attention for another 15 - 20 minutes until I finally had to go to the back counter and ask for the bill.

We'll try again sometime for sure, but next time we'll stay far away from the beef dishes.

Today was my second time visiting for dinner and unfortunately it was quite different from my first visit. I was initially greeted by a friendly older gentleman who seated us quickly, but that service quickly turned into a disappointment as a younger female waitress served us throughout the evening.

The most disappointing parts were when asked what assortment of fish came with the sashimi bowl she seemed reluctant to ask the chef and came back quickly stating only 3 types of fish would be served. Additionally, after incorrectly serving my order, she proceeded to correct me by insinuating I did not know the difference between soba & udon. Lastly, the service was slow and unfriendly.

The things I really love about this place is that they have alot of Japanese dishes besides the typical sushi/sashimi. I really wanted to like this restaurant since a friend of mine knows the owner, but unfortunately feel better & consistent service could be found elsewhere.

The food is very delicious, but the inside of the restaurant is very hot. Also, there is no ice in the water. It's a shame because it's not very relaxing when it's this hot in the store.
