We travel to Port A frequently but have never eaten at Castaways. We were there for Thanksgiving week and made a reservation for the Thanksgiving meal that Castaways was serving. Ham or turkey, cornbread dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, creamy corn, green bean casserole, candied yams, homemade cranberry sauce, and a roll for $21.00. Sounded great, so we made our reservation for 3:00pm. We arrived at the restaurant just before 3:00pm and were immediately informed they were out of turkey, so ham only. Ok, no problem. However, when our "plate" was delivered, there was no green bean casserole, no candied yams, no cranberry sauce and no roll. We instead had "canned corn", plain mashed potatoes, dressing, ham and a piece of buttered white bread. WHAT???? When we asked about the "missing" items from our plate, we were told oh, we already ran out, but we are discounting the price. We went ahead and ate the mediocre food and paid our "discounted" bill - they took off $6.00 per plate - WOW. This meal was a complete disappointment and had we been informed they were out of almost everything, we would have opted not to eat. If they were only taking reservations, they knew EXACTLY how many people they would be serving, so extremely poor planning on their part for running out food. Based on this one experience, I do NOT recommend this restaurant and will not be eating there on any of our future Port A trips.

Took my wife out for her birthday and was honestly disappointed for the price we paid. Hushpuppies were burnt, shrimp ended up making my wife and I sick for going on day 3 now. Waiter was rude and not worth the tip given. As much as my dog loved the chicken snd rice we will not be going back.

We had exceptional service. The food was good (I don’t do seafood but the rest of my group does & they loved the food). Really enjoyed 5$ pina coladas during happy hour. 10/10 would go here again.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our meals this evening. We scarfed down two appetizers: mozzarella sticks and calamari. Five stars! Three of our five ordered the Castaway Dinner, one got the Castaburger, and I got the fish tacos. It was all delicious and filling.
Arnold took great care of us and was the perfect degree of attentive.

Ceviche with cooked fish was quite the shock, did not taste bad but it was not ceviche IYKYK. Mahi was way overcooked and the sauce did not taste good at all. Our waiter was H2O. No flavor, odor or color. No personality whatsoever. Never even gave his name.. that said, he was not rude or nasty but also not pleasant…. Not a place I would return to.

We went to this restaurant on Sunday evening. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait. We went to the bar to have drinks. About 30 minutes later we got a text telling us that we’d been placed on the waiting list. After the restaurant was basically cleared out of most of the customers, about 45 minutes later, we were finally seated. After ordering it took approx. 40 minutes to receive our food. We had no silverware or napkins. After an extended time we finally got our waitress’ attention. I ordered the 3rd Coast Shrimp. The shrimp was so overcooked that I had difficulty scraping it away from the shell, and the Pontchartrain sauce was flavorless. Overpriced, terrible service, and poor quality of food.

The oysters taste like they came out of a can, the calamari had no flavor and did not taste fresh. It was so loud in there the waitress could not hear our order, so we had to wait another 15 minutes on the order she forgot after everyone else already had their food. The portion on my husband’s plate was very small. The cost was all way over priced. Will never go back there.
