“The VFW is an Amazing organizations that benefits our veterans and community. They cater benefits of all natures for our members, community and town. Open to the public for large clean atmosphere, shuffleboard (local tournaments on Wednesday and Saturday 1pm), pool, drinks, and gaming. Kid friendly. Westerns on daily. Great senior camaraderie! Open everyday 13p.m. -10p.m. midnight on thr weekends.”

“Best seafood in the area bar none. The fried halibut was cooked perfectly and the house made tartar sauce is amazing. My wife’s red snapper was absolutely delicious and the blue crab claws appetizer was the perfect start to a scrumptious meal. Highly recommended.”

“I love "Mom and Pop" shops when it comes to food. The apple fritter is wonderful along with a sour cream style cake donut if I'm saying it right. The breakfast croissants were good as well. You have to pay attention to pricing: The better the donut, the higher the price you'll pay.”

“Legit seafood restaurant in Port A. Near the ferry landing on Cotter Ave. Good vibe, great service, nice size patio with view of the harbor. I would highly recommend the Gulf Fish Vera Cruz (on this day is was Mahi). Topped with caramelized onions & peppers, sliced avocados, and then the jalapeno chimichurri sets this dish apart. Rice and sautéed veggies were excellent as well. One of my favorites spots in Port A.

Parking: Parking could be little tight when busy, they are next to where people are parked to ride the Pirate Ship.”

“I just got back from a girls' weekend at this gem of a hotel and everyone in my group loved the property. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. They offer all the modern amenities but preserve the hotel's historical integrity. This type of charm isn't something you find in many properties these days.

I personally loved looking at all the historical pictures our room and in the lobby. The lobby has tarpon scales with past visitors' names on them--even one from Franklin Roosevelt! I spent a while just walking around and looking at all of them.

We also had dinner and breakfast at 1886 (one of the restaurants on the hotel's property), and the food was *amazing*. We ordered two orders of the focaccia bread (one wasn't enough!) and the crab cakes were so, so good!

The breakfast was great as well. Everything was fresh and delicious--especially the beignets!

Also, if you stay at the hotel, you get a discount of golf carts at Tarpon Carts, which is located right next to the property. We had one, and it was extremely convenient to be able to walk right next door for pickup and drop-off.
