“My family and I were visiting from San Antonio and ended our night at Shorty's two of those nights. Great live music and friendly bar staff. I left my debit card there and realized when we were already halfway home Sunday. They mailed it to me in San Antonio! Solid place. We will be back again.“

“I want to start by saying the food was great all around. My complaint is with our bill. I have eaten here before with a larger party and couldn’t wait to bring my husband for our anniversary. Our server Nancy was fine, however she was noticeably more attentive to her other tables that she seemed to know. She really seemed uninterested us. The dining room assistance actually asked us more questions and made us feel right at home, even asked if we were celebrating. Not once did our server go over the menu, ask if we had eaten there before, etc. Now for the bill. Everything is handwritten. That’s fine. Not a problem. When we order our meal the server asked if we wanted a salad. The way she worded it was it comes with a house but we also have these other options. My husband and I both decided on the cesars and assumed it was part of the entree. When we got our bill not only did we pay $24 for 2 salads but we also barely touched them. When we got our bill I paid partly in cash and part on a card. I was never told there was a credit card fee or anything. All in all it just left a sour taste in our mouth. Communication goes along way. I would like to try again, as the food was amazing as always. It’s just nice to treat everyone the same and inform us for all the extra charges.“

“I'm not sure why the reviews are mixed, but we had an excellent dining experience at Black Marlin this evening. We began with the flauta appetizer special, accompanied by a pineapple jalapeño margarita, cucumber martinis, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. For our main course, we enjoyed the scallop pasta, salmon salad, shrimp and grits, and grilled mahi mahi tacos. Everything was cooked to perfection. To finish, we couldn’t resist trying both the signature key lime pie and the strawberry shortcake. The service was outstanding—attentive and professional. I highly recommend Black Marlin and would gladly choose to dine here regularly over the typical fried bar food found at most spots on the island.“
