Chuggin Monkey Bar • $

“We stopped into the Chuggin' Monkey on a Tuesday afternoon on our way thru town and are already talking about returning on a weekend for some live music. Apparently Ty Dietz and Tumble Dry Low both play here, so we're watching for their upcoming dates.Couldn't decide what I wanted to drink so the sweetheart bartender, JP, told me about some new liquors they had and gave us a taste of Twisted Tea Whiskey, which was surprisingly good! (Dangerously good for day-drinking tho, so we both went w/ice cold beer instead. Ha.)There were some friendly locals sitting at the bar with us who were happy to chat and tell us what's up in town. The jukebox was super easy to play from my phone and I really liked the entire setup of this bar. Several TVs to check out and a huge screen in the corner, which I assume is popular for game day. Lots of seating around the stage, pool tables and darts. The women's restroom was clean too which I really appreciated. The prices are badass too- I think our beers were only $3 each?? Sadly, we only stayed a few hours. Can't wait to check out this place on the weekend when it's hoppin.Parking: Huge private parking lot.“

“Cool little bar on the north side of town. Decent selection of cocktails. Has bar food also, but I didn't have any.Nice setup inside. Various types of people visit - older, younger, men, women. Not a gangster bar or stereotype bar for military or college aged kids or whoever. A little bit of everyone was there and everyone got along. Chill environment.I went and had a good time. Staff is on point. Also, my wife's white Russian was superb. Decent cocktails.Parking: Not a whole lot of parking. You'll have to park behind the building when it is packed. But be sure not to park in another business's parking. You could get towed.Kid-friendliness: It's a bar.“

“It's your basic hole in the wall bar. My only problem was the bartender who instead of serving customers was occupied with her phone. EDIT: Since my initial visit I've been here a couple more times & the service has greatly improved, I think the bartenders name is Danea( I could be wrong) but she is amazing.“

“This was the best Mexican food I had during a week long trip to South Texas. I had been looking for some good Menudo and I found it here! The Tripe in the soup was so tender and the broth was delicious. I also had the daily special Carnita Plate and that was just perfect with very tender and juicy pork.“
