“The staff is friendly, the food is sooo good! Everything comes out fresh and fast. I had the carne guisada plate(in the picture i put all that pepper on it myself, it doesn't come like that). I absolutely love the carne guisada but I will say it's not "traditional Mexican" tasting but it's good. My favorite thing is the beans though, they are the perfect consistency and taste so very good! They are open for breakfast but I have gone twice for breakfast and there was nobody there which I can't understand because the food and drinks are great, the staff are nice and the restaurant is very clean and well lit. Go try it!“
“So I’m giving a 5 star because this place is a hidden gem and incredibly nice. But……. The place was dead at 12am on Saturday night. The owner was drunk off his (you know what) (DOHisA) the lady next to him also (DOHerA) the girl next to her was blitzed as in gone. Not a good look for them. And owners should never be behind the bar while drunk. The bartender was new but excellent. The food was :/. With the right marketing and management this place could and should be packed every night its open. There are two bars with in walking distance and should be utilized to y’all’s benefit. You also need to make people feel welcome when they come in and not make it your personal playground, because that’s what it felt like.So please step up your game!!“
“Super unassuming establishment; however, this place was awesome! There is a really big dive bar atmosphere if you're into that kind of thing. Dimly lit, pool table, small stage for live bands on the weekend. When I came in, there were 10 ladies and gentlemen having an 8-ball pool tournament which added immensely to the ambiance. The food here was incredible. I ordered the voodoo burger and bacon wrapped shrimp. I was blown away by the high quality of food in such a dingy looking place. I'll definitely be returning any chance I get. This is a hidden gem for sure.“
“For this visit, we stopped here for cocktails and debriefing. This was an excellent choice (though we wished they at least had an appetizers menu). The open space seating is amazing, and the lighted faux tree outside gives the space a cool vibe.“
“Water Street Oyster Bar stands out as not only a staple but also the epitome of elegance in our city’s dining scene. From the moment you step inside, the calm and inviting ambience welcomes you, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. We started with a dozen Blue Point oysters, each one bursting with freshness and flavor. The selection of local Gulf oysters and other varietals offered a delightful variety. Alongside, the shrimp picayune stole the show with its perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors, accompanied by perfectly grilled toast points. For our main course, we indulged in the quick and satisfying poke bowl. Opting for the Lulu with yellowfin tuna and the Shoyu Salmon with Atlantic salmon, we were treated to a symphony of fresh flavors. From the succulent proteins to the crisp vegetables, every bite was a culinary delight.Water Street Oyster Bar has truly set the bar high for fine dining in our city, and it’s a place I’ll gladly return to for more unforgettable meals.“
“We were on a recent vacation in Corpus Christi. This restaurant listed in top 10 of Corpus Christi. We chose an early evening/ late afternoon meal. This is not TexMex, but features traditional Mexican food from Mexico. Restaurant is located in a strip mall and not very big. I felt I was at a fine dining experience. Lovely restaurant and wonderful ambience. Service was excellent and personal. Our server suggested a selection that allowed a tasting of more than one item. We could select two items, our choice of type of tortillas and either black beans or charro beans. Rice came with the meal also. We were also given a soup in this selection or we could select another soup for a slight increase in price. I couldn't find this on the menu online to describe better. We were there at 4:00 pm and perhaps it was a lunch offering. Our individual meal selections were around $12.99/person. Three sauces were served on the table with our meal....a red sauce, a verde sauce and a habanero sauce. All were delicious. We opted for a tortilla soup and a poblano soup and although the entire meal was unbelievably delicious, these 2 soups were outstanding and so delicious we couldn't put them down!! We did order dessert which was the only thing disappointing about our meal. They were out of flan. I ordered a tres leches which was a cuatro leches on their menu. My friend ordered pineapple upside down cake. They were both very dry and not that great. Forget dessert. I highly recommend this traditional Mexican restaurant. Food, ambience and service were outstanding!! Go if you are in Corpus Christi!“
“Pretty cool place in Corpus with an outside patio to watch some sports on TV. Staff there are cool and friendly, and the drinks are good. I think you might catch an occasional food truck, but otherwise I'm doubtful that there's food at the establishment.“
“Very happy to have chosen this place for dinner. Had the teriyaki wings with fries and they were delicious with the flavor and a lite crisp to the wings. Our waiter Dustin was working it. Busy going back and forth but did keep checking up to see if drinks were filled no matter how busy. Great job Dustin and food was great also.“
“Nice small home feeling. Good food, especially the Cheese steak sandwich. Their Cobb salad comes with a good supply of extras. I've eaten there several times. Can't wait until they expand their menu a little. And the prices are very “
“Ahi Tuna Empanadas were excellent, although a little difficult to eat without making a mess. The Moscow Mule they’ve got on tap was killer as well. The vibe was good, but the weather coupled with Valentine’s Day had it a little slow. I could see potential on a warm sunny day at this venue.“
“Everything about this place was amazing. If you're into hidden gems with a speakeasy vibe, this is the place for you. From the moment we walked through the doors we felt right at home in this cozy space. The staff and owner(s) should be proud of the guest experience this establishment provides. So first off, thank you all - we had a fabulous evening! We ordered our standard classics: My husband had the Hemingway and I ordered the Boulevardier with Bullet. Both cocktails we beautifully crafted and perfect to the last drop. Our server Brooke was truly fantastic! She easily guided us through the menu, giving us dinner recs as well. We had a hankering all week for tiki drinks and she pointed us to a couple that we on the menu. No shocker, these did not disappoint and were perfectly balanced. My husband is hell-bent on recreating his drink at home because it was just that good!During our time here we were treated to a live singer and her accompanying pianist. When we first arrived we were one of just a handful of folks. However, after we got our first beverages the space started to fill up. With the Bar, Lounge chairs and Tables lining the wall being full of patron, the space still remained calm and relaxing. All in all, this place is must if you appreciate craft cocktails.Note: We went on a Tuesday evening and had reservations for 6 o'clock in the Lounge Seating. I always opt for reservations if available. it's honestly a win-win for everyone. I cannot speak for weekend, but Walk-ins were being accommodated on the night we went.Thank you all again!“
“Was a bit warm but not too uncomfortable, seeing outside was cold so maybe temp inside felt bit warmer then usual. But it was awesome to see drink specials for everyday of the week and those specials were nice to choose from actual good beer and drinks. Will definitely go more nights now then pur usual open mic night or when I have itch to play good pinball games. Btw the Marvel Vs Capcom and original Mortal Combat 4 screens are bright and clear. Join on comedy open mic nights they are so much fun. With a outside patio you always have a good comfortable relaxing time sitting in or outside.“
“If you're looking for a dive bar with a good crowd, this is the place. Friendly staff, music at the right volume (and it's a juke box, so pay up if you want your jams on), good drinks, and a cool atmosphere. Yeah, it seems a little dirty, but it's old. Dirt and age, the lines get blurred... It's so old it's the longest running liquor license in the state of Texas (thus the "oldest establishment in Texas" on the exterior). Check it out if you're in Corpus!“
“We ordered through door dash and our food arrived fresh!! This was our first time to try this place and the food was very good and everything is made from scratch, I ordered the steak fingers and was expecting them to be like the other local restaurants, frozen but these were definitely homemade!! You get a lot of food as well, we will definitely be eating here again!!“
“The ambiance was exactly what I needed tonight. The wait was only 20 mins, and we had drinks while we waited. Drinks were fun and flavorful. The chips and dips were good but the green sauce lacked flavor (add some lime and salt!.). I was skeptical about the food but it was delcious. Beans were a little runny but had great flavor! Our waitress was very polite and took good care of us“
“Found this "hole in the wall" from a bartender at an eatery down the road... we love it so KUDOS to that other bartender too... at night, with the construction going on, we passed it TWICE; NOT their fault BUT, PLEASE update your signage, it's REALLY faded no matter what... once inside you can easily get faded yourself lol;Bartender was SUPER SWEET and I'm a tough critic being a bartender myself... We really enjoyed ourselves so next time we're in town, we'll be back!!!Keep up the good work, BESOS from out of towners who know bars❤️❤️❤️“
“My grandfather's farm was about 1 mile west (across from Starry Rd) just across the Oso bay bridge from the Oso Rose. When we were kids back in the '60's we would go to this place (it was under different ownership back then) with a large family group of grandparents, aunt's, uncle's and cousins. The grown-ups would play domino's or cards and drink beer out on the screened in porch (now enclosed) and us kids would roam around, inside and out. Back then it was owned by a man by the name of Joe Hagel. I remember walking across that old telephone pole laying down in the parking lot and swinging on that "hitching post" pipe out front. I can't believe all that is still there 50-60 years later. There are a couple of marbles in the concrete floor where the screened porch was that Mr Hagel would tell us kids that when he poured the concrete floor, he accidently buried his poor old cat and that's his eyes looking up. Being kids we believed him. There was also a very small grocery store, only about eight feet wide just as you walked in the door, with coolers across the back holding drinks, cold cuts and other cold items. You'd walk in and get your beer out of the cooler, grab some cold cuts, crackers and then go sit out in the screened porch and have a blast. I will definately go back when in Corpus again. We now live in north Texas but go to Padre Island about once a year. So many memories of this place. Definately a place to experience.“
“I absolutely love it. Maybe i got caught in the moment but to me it was so perfect. Coincidentally i was just driving around looking for a dive in bar i can call my own. I didnt even know this place existed. I drove by this evening n saw the bar lights n the inside of the bar on the road. I had to do a 180 n pull in. It was so cozy n chill. U could just grab a drink n listen to some tunes play a game of pool n just relax. Maybe i caught them on a chill day but i loved it. Just wanted a place i could call my own. This is a place where i could grab a drink after work n just chill out. It looks like for an older crowd which i like, cuz i dont like big n loud crowds. The bartender informed me u could bring in ur own bottle if u like, cuz they just sell small bottles of wine n beer. I love that idea. She also informed me they do karaoke on Wednesday. I like that too, cuz fridays n Saturday karaoke nights r just so packed n e where else. I cant wait to check it out. Looking forward to my next visit.“
“Came to corpus for the weekend from Houston and looking for a place to have dinner .Found this small place !Every thing was freshly made !!!!The hostess and waitress were so attentive with us since we walked in ! The food was so delicious and drinks on point !Thank you ?“
“Awesome atmosphere and good music! Friendly staff and cold beer. Live music when I went on a Saturday night. They have pizza to eat. I only had a slice but I was buzzed so I can't say it was spectacular. But it was definitely good. Live music inside and outside on the patio. There's also a bar out back and fire pits were on. It was chilly si that was perfect! I'll definitely be back. Beers were not expensive either 3bux not bad. Going this Saturday night again!“
“Such a great place and a welcome addition to downtown Corpus Christi. Something for everyone. A family friendly Bar and grill by day and by evening a hopping nightclub. Live Music, amazing collection of Retro Arcade games that is one time pay for a bracelet and play as much as you want. A speak easy style club in the back and even a rooftop party area that includes a stage for live music. A must go to place“
“Great service and a fun place to hangout! Owner is amazing and a good person to talk to. The prices aren't overpriced and it's an overall great place to go for company and drinksParking: Parking in front and side of building in the parking lot and grass. More parking across the street in the grass for free alsoWheelchair accessibility: No ledge going in or out of any door. Front door entrance has a concrete slab that's smooth enough like a ramp. Back has no ledge on the doorway either so you can easily go in and out in a wheelchair“
“The staff is super cool and it's a really back atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced and have a great selection. The pool tables and beer pong really stand out and the patio is pretty largeKid-friendliness: Don't take your kids to the bar.Parking: Roughly 30 Vehicles could fit inWheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp. Not sure if the back patio is accessible but the front is“
“I didn't eat there but what a great place to go for a beer and hang out play pool listen to music sit outside if you want fabulous place! Chili cook-off is this weekend people on Saturday come and join for the fun starts at noon all proceeds go to a good cause ?♥️?“
“We went to dinner here in celebration of my sister's birthday and had a great experience. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The beer selection is enormous, the Bloody Mary's looked fabulous and the Hurricane Alley was delicious. The appetizers were indeed appetizing and the coleslaw is indescribable. The fish was fresh, delicious and prepared to perfection. Looking forward to going back to try some other menu selections. Can honestly say that I would highly recommend this establishment.Parking: Plenty of parking in a huge free parking lotKid-friendliness: They have a "Little Cabooses" menu for the kids or you can order FAMILY STYLE to include everyone.“
“I ordered some of their tamales and oh my gosh, they were so good! Me and my friend ate a dozen then ordered three dozen more. And guess what? We ate a dozen for breakfast today, a dozen for dinner and have a dozen in the freezer for later. I’m thinking tomorrow is a perfect day to eat tamales. “
“Great place to chill and is pet friendly. Have some adult beverages at the large open-air bar and order good food from the on-site food truck. Enjoy the outoor entertainment and mesmerizing sunsets all the while.I was with a group for bike night, and there was plenty of parking for everyones motorcycles. We received good service and the prices are reasonable.“
“Have been coming to this bar for years. Love it. But today is my first bad experience. The service was very very bad. 8 people in the bar all men. Bartender female hovered around the men. my wife and I waited 35 minutes she never acknowledged us I had get her attention.when the bartender came on at 6pm the service change a 100%. The service was great like it usually is. My wife and I met the bartender she checked on us and was very friendly she gave us her name it was Kimmie“
“This restaurant is open to the air and part of the seating is on a boat, so views are interesting of the water and other cruise-worthy vessels. We enjoyed ourselves at this lunch spot! The service was excellent, checking on us every few minutes to make sure we had what we needed, and friendly! The food was great with large portions to take some home and delicious sauce and tea. I recommend the lobster bisque and coconut shrimp, both excellent. Even a couple grackles made their way in and fearlessly circled the tables, entertaining us with rivalrous arguments over which one got a scrap on the floor. They do ask that you don't feed them directly.Lastly, on the way out there is a boutique, with charming and interesting gifts and wares to look at and buy that I haven't seen anywhere else in Corpus Christi or Padre Island yet. After we enjoyed a walk on the seawall, it was a beautiful day!“
“The best view in Corpus Christi and probably the most underrated spot. I'm glad I was able to find this place with the most professional staff and experience bartending expertise. Always clean, always friendly, and always elegant.Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp into the lobby leads you to the elevators with minimal effort; from the elevators you'll have no trouble entering this spacious lounge“
“The chips and salsa were ok. I'm not a fan of the chunky salsas - which theirs is - but my husband loved it. I had the chicka-chicka-boom-boom, and it was really good. My husband had their fajita burrito with hatch chile and said it was really good. Full bar available. My husband and I appreciated their prayers on the silverware holder.“
“Omg! What spectacular bartenders Rey and Josh are. The food is amazing! I love the pizza rolls. Hot and fresh out the oven. The music is bangin'! The drinks are well made. They know how to make anything you ask for. They also gave me THREE limes.“
“This place is just so very bad I can come over here and play pool grab a drink hell to Bros the friends catch up you know just kick back relax have fun gymnastics and good music I really like this place a lot it's really awesome I say give it a shot it's one of the best places in town“
“Nice neighborhood bar and grill to have food with friends or maybe a drink at the bar. Friendly staff and the owner is a really nice guy. The bar tender during my visit is awesome! Look for Erika for great drinks and conversation. She makes a great Ol Fashioned. I had the mushroom Swiss burger with chips made in-house. Fries are also available. Very tasty burger. There are lots of options on the menu to choose from.“
“3rd year going here when we Winter on the Island. The first time we ever walked in, the place was busy. We cldnt find 2 seats at the bar so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. OH NO said the owner!!! He walked us back inside and asked the folks at the bar to slide over and we've been so wing our money here ever since!!! Try it! U will LOVE IT!“
“The place to go! Always a pleasent atmosphere. Patrons served especially well and by professional help. Been going here for 20 years. Excellent service. Good music. Good food, and a beef jerky store next door. Convience store next to beef jerky store so you can walk over and get a six pack to take to the house when you leave! Plenty of parking space. Amanda is cool....“
“I made an order online tonight 2/29/24 the bartender running the place had my order ready early and was great, professional, courteous, and made the whole experience pleasant and enjoyable and I would highly recommend The Exchange for a great night “
“We stay at the KOA across the street once a year and found this hidden gem across the street. When the sun sets we walk over and visit with Sharon or Jessica(Jess) and feel welcomed like any of the locals or regulars. We always look forward to our visits to Corpus Christi.“
“The Annex is an amazing spot to hang with friends. The chill atmosphere and delicious drinks made by skilled and friendly bartenders made our trip to downtown Corpus Christi that much more special. I can’t wait to visit again hopefully on a Trivia night or one of their other fun activity nights. We also loved the side patio with the heaters that kept us warm. We highly recommend The Annex and will be back!!!“
