Star was an amazing server. AND the the food came and it was so good. I was full half way thru.
Every time I'm on the island I eat here. I get the Farfalle Alfredo with chicken. Everyone else gets it with shrimp and they love it. My friends get the Rice Stix (spicy) and the Conchigli. All the food we've tried and my family/friends have tried has always been on point including the service. They do get busy and it is small. Try to go when they first open. You can eat inside or outside.
Seated right away. Friendly staff. Good house Cabernet. Expensive food. Mango ceviche tasty but mostly mango and red onion, not much shrimp for the price. Fish tacos came with very black avocado, they brought fresh right away, which was almost worse…why not originally? 10 Grilled shrimp for $30 were good says hubby. They gave me a complimentary dessert for the black avocado.
Good food, great variety of pasta. The ambience leaves a bit to be desired compared to other restaurants in Port Aransas, but definitely a strong choice for a good lunch!
Waited 35 mins after we sat down without getting so much as something to drink. They were very short staffed and started taking orders from people who walked in after us. Prices were very high anyway so I guess we didn't really miss outUsed to be my husbands favorite place and he was so excited to get to come back but he ended up walking out highly disappointed.
Food was absolutely amazing! Environment is very inviting and unassuming and the food was beyond expectations. Star offered great service!
Shell's has the best food and the least pretentiousatmosphere we've ever experienced in Port Aransis. Their menu is not the standard menu of most places either. Think high end style chef creations at reasonable prices in your favorite small cafe. I had the Seared Mahi Mahi w/ key lime aoli and mixed veggies (& not the soggy squash and zucchini offered everywhere else we ate) that was fresh and divine! We will eat at Shell's everytime we visit Port Aransis.
We eat here every time we come to Port A! This place is phenomenal! Charming atmosphere Great menu with an intimate setting and very fair prices.
Shells is a small place on a busy corner, we knew they'd be busy on a Friday night so we went early, and were seated immediately. We tried the ceviche and lobster salad on toasted crostini as appetizers, both were just OK. For entrees, we had the seared Mahi Mahi and the sauteed Grouper, both were very good. We selected a decent pinot grigio for dinner, which was good and reasonable priced. The staff at Shells was an odd mixture of people, none of whom seemed to really care whether or not the diners had a good experience. From the hostess to our waitress, there was a very palpable air of disinterestedness. Perhaps it's a training issue, it was hard to tell. We don't need to go back, there are too many top-notch seafood places in Port A to spend an evening at a restaurant that is average at best.
Unique place for dinner in Port A. It’s my wife’s favorite & I agree it’s a solid option. Great wine & beer list. Many options on the menu for everyone.Recommend the spicy shrimp & bacon pasta.Go early because it gets packed fast

High dining in a modest package. The food here was some of the best seafood dining I've ever had. The plating was 5 stars. We tried several main courses and all were delicious, made to order with ample portions. We were pleasantly surprised, and will definitely be back. Give this place a try for dinner the next time you're in Port Aransas.
The food was absolutely delicious. Everybody was happy. I ordered the pan fried sheepshead fish and it was amazing not too heavy. my husband ordered the seared Tuna, and it was tasty. My daughter ordered the rigatoni with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes and she enjoyed it. My two sons each ordered the Alfredo pasta with chicken and loved it. We also ordered poke and roasted olives and OMG!!! It was so good! My only complaint is we waited 30 minutes for the food which was a to go order also there was a 10% up charge on our credit card for the bill being over $100, And we didn’t even eat in the restaurant we took the food to go. I’m not real sure what that was about but oh well. It’s a low-key mom and pop restaurant that take the time to look for fresh ingredients and make their food delicious. It is a small restaurant so if you go with a large party be prepared to wait for a long time to be seated most of the seating is outdoors. Everyone was happy with their food.
This place is tiny, but the food is amazing. The portions are generous, and the staff is kind and accommodating. I had the gumbo and beef tips with gorgonzola and loved all of it!
I hate to write a bad review, but our food was that bad. Unfortunately my husband and I ordered the same thing and it was horrible. We got the rice noodles with shrimp (4), green onions, cilantro, peanuts and a chili sauce. Was an ordering error on our part, but shouldn’t be on the menu. Couldn’t eat mine. Our white wine (Chardonnay) was served at room temperature. The shrimp were small.
I was SO excited to try Shells. Well save your money! I ordered the bruschetta. $7 for THREE crouton sized pieces of bread with three chopped tomato pieces and basil!!! I also had the ceviche. Three pieces of shrimp in the whole order! Needless to say I had to go eat somewhere else after to be full.?
