First time here. Nice little establishment within the trucker stop. Didn’t get mine hot and fresh! But will try it out when I drive back to dallas!
Great little pitstop south of dallas if you’re making a drive to Austin. Was a little difficult to figure out how to get there. If you’re heading south when you see it, you have to go across the highway and go down a residential street to reach it. Over the hill and down the road you’ll see it. Then make the bow tie when done to continue back south!

Once you had one of these fried pies it's hard to eat the others but you take them home put them in the oven and get some ice cream now you're talking

These are the BEST handpies in Texas. If it doesn't say "The Original Fried Pie Shop," don't waste your time or money. Perfect filling to crust ratio, fresh cooked in peanut oil at each location - you can even get frozen ones to take home or get them shipped direct to make in your oven, air fryer or cook in your favorite oil.
We got the coconut, blueberry, blackberry, cherry, and Bavarian vanilla. They were all spectacular. We've tried other pies claiming to be "original," and they don't even compare. Perfectly cooked, not greasy, great hot, warm or cold - highly recommended.
The lady working the counter at this location was just wonderful. Friendly, professional, helpful answering our questions, and, as she was the only one working, cooked those pies to perfection!
Look for the logo - you won't regret it.

Great peach cobbler by a little pricey
I ate the coconut, chocolate and cream cheese pies and all were delicious. They made a coconut, chocolate and pecan pie that was tasty! Will definitely stop and make some new combinations.

This location is located in the Red Oak Travel Center which is the mart attached to the Shell station. (The purchase via credit card will actually ring up as "Shell".) It is between the Wendy's and the Restrooms in the center of the building. We had never had a pie from The Original Fried Pie Shop and didn't know it was a chain until I saw the list of locations posted next to the counter. There are a number of pie flavors to choose from including Peach, Cherry, Apricot, Pineapple, Apple, Blackberry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Coconut, Lemon, Pecan, Blueberry, Pumpkin, Strawberry, and Cream Cheese. They also have Sugar-Free versions of Cherry and Apple. Each fruit pie is $3.99 while cream pies (chocolate, vanilla, lemon, and coconut) or nut (pecan) pies are $4.49. Buying a dozen gets you a 12% discount. They also sell frozen pies at $1.50 each or $12 for a dozen. It looks like you can mix and match flavors. We decided to try a Strawberry Pie because the sign said it was available for a limited time. The pie was served warm in a paper sleeve (and placed in a paper sack lunch bag for me to take). It wasn't crispy or crunchy (I'm not sure if it should have been), but it tasted pretty good with a savory, salty crust and sweet gooey filling with chunks of strawberry that wasn't overly sweet and balanced fairly well with the crust. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit doughy and gummy at parts, but overall it was a pretty tasty treat. The pie was fairly large - probably equivalent to 2.5 McDonald’s apple pies. They don’t appear to sell burgers any more.
Parking: Parking in front of Travel Center. Also 16 spots for Tesla Superchargers on the other side of the gas pumps.

It's a convenient location off 35 e northbound side. They have a motel 6 beside it and medium size parking lot behind the pilot fuel station.
