The chilaquiles Rojos were authentic and excellent! The breakfast tacos were delicious and wrapped in fresh tortillas. Highly recommend!

What a cuuute little diner with big flavor! The food was great! I got the veggie omelette and let me tell you, the veggies were plentiful!! I’m use to going to places where there’s more egg.
Seems like a great little place for regulars, hearing the chatter among the guest what an absolute joy. Will definitely come back.
As a heads up…cash pay and tips is preferred 🩷🩷

We went to Rice Cafe on May 13, 2025. We split onion rings, I had a club, my husband had french fries, fried okra, grilled squash, a side salad, we each had a soda, and split a piece of cake. Total before tip was $39.90. The service was the worst. Waitress would not come to the table after serving the food. She sat down with another customer and had a soda while we waited, and waited for the check. Finally we just went to the register. I almost had to beg them to put my half sandwich in a to go box. Food is just ok, and the service is terrible. Avoid.

Not enough food. Beans are served in a small bowl like if it was a la carta, which is not. I hated it that. I think the plate was not complete.

THIS is a diner. Passing through town, looking for something other than a drive thru. One page menu, classic diner choices.
The tortilla soup was excellent, the chicken fried steak was fork tender with a nice crispy crust. Exactly what we were looking for!

Thanks Google Maps for helping me find a truly delightful place to break up my monotonous drives between Houston and the DFW area. If I am headed south on this route, I am able to get in about an hour’s worth of the drive before getting to Rice, so the Rice Café is a perfect place to stretch my legs and enjoy a late breakfast. If I am headed north on this route, I am able to get in about 3 hours worth of the drive so the Rice Café is an excellent place to stretch my legs and enjoy an early lunch.

Buc-ees used to be my go to place for a rest stop along this route but no longer. I find that it has become too popular and crowded and it has become a bit too proud of its to-go products (I.e much higher prices). Plus, I actually like having a place other than my driver’s seat to sit down for a spell and relax without having to be constantly on the alert for the numerous crazy drivers that I always encounter on my drives.
On my recent visit to the Paris Cafe, I dined on their Juevos Rancheros. The service was friendly and prompt. I was seated and ordered within 2 minutes. I had my hot mug of coffee within 3 minutes. And I have my freshly prepared meal within 10 minutes.

I have to say that this was the best plate of Juevos that I have had in several years. The bottom layer of tortillas was perfectly browned and were crispy but not overly crunchy. The egg was cooked to a proper over-medium where the yolk was half firm/half runny. The ranchero sauce was outstanding. Tasty with a medium level of heat. And the flavorful frijoles were served on the side instead of being spread on the base tortillas (which eliminates the crispness and often makes them chewy)
On the side they served a basket of warmed tortillas to help you sop up the yolk and enjoy the frijoles. The dish also was also complemented with some well prepared hash browns.

I cannot wait for my next trip back up to the DFW area, so I can enjoy one of their many lunch plates.

On our way to Houston, we stumbled upon a hidden gem for breakfast. The food was absolutely phenomenal! We're so glad we decided to stop. Their blueberry pancakes were out of this world!
