I probably eat here at least once a week. This place is the closest I found to Korea as far as taste. I feel like my 이모 made me a homemade meal every time. I cannot recommend this place enough!Dietary restrictions: They are willing to customize what they can. My friend always asks for no onions and they always oblige

Food is great. Rice and kimchi used to be self-served til before COVID but not anymore and I miss that. Also prices went up a lot.Cashier lady is very rude that’s the main reason I’m giving this place 1 star, but I keep coming back once in a while. Can’t blame the food.

Delicious Korean comfort food! Everything was well cooked and flavorful! We’ve had take out here before which did not disappoint. Food is best fresh so we decided to dine in. So good!! Don’t let the modest location and atmosphere deter you. This is wonderfully homemade food! Get there by 7:30pm b/c the restaurant closes at 8pm so don’t expect them to cook your food 5 minutes to close. We will be back!

They have quite a variety menu. I ordered octopus stone pot rice and stone pot bulgogi. Both are good and served hot. Especially, octopus stone pot rice has enough veggies and octopus. It’s quite fun to listen that my foods are grilling in the pot while I’m eating them. Sauce was not too spicy and all the other ingredients are fresh too. Self Service but also no tips asking.

Went back to this hole in the wall Korean foods in Garland/richardson and they’re still good. I’m missing the time when kimchi and side dishes were unlimited, but time changed. We ordered yukejang and ribs.

There's something quite special about this place, the mom and pops atmosphere, the feeling of getting a wonderfully tasty homecooked meal... Though far from where we are, we'll always stop by when time permits! :)

I’ve had soybean paste stew from all over south Korea and the DFW. This was not good. I don’t even see how it was soybean paste stew. It didn’t even taste like it had soybean paste in it at all. It was just like overly spicy, overly sweetened, hot water. I would have given it a higher rating for the food just for the fact that I liked the purple rice but… honestly, the tofu tasted like mold. And the kimchi wasn’t bad but there was like ONLY kimchi for side dishes (banchan). There were only 3 side dishes and they were cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and I think another radish dish. Where is the variety? My food was $30 for 2 servings and in my opinion, it wasn’t worth half the price. When I want hot, spicy, sugar water, I drink tea, not soup. It was just so flavorless. I really don’t understand how they can call this soybean paste stew…

Great Korean spot with good portions and prices. It's very small, so getting a table can be difficult sometimes.

AMAZING FOOD!!! A refreshingly no-thrills local place with EXCELLENT food! The galbi (marinated beef ribs) were some of the best I’ve had. We love Korean food and Joy Kitchen is now one of our favorites! Barley tea (boricha) is also offered on the house. The facilities are simple and clean. You order at the front and pick up your food yourself. You also clean up after yourself. ?? easy. No frills. No time wasted.Highly recommend this spot!

Everything was great, especially the pork neck soup! Just the portion is kinda smaller than before. Also if they can be more generous with their sides I will be so much happier..cuz these taste awesome:)

They were busy, but service was still fast and friendly. It's mostly self-serve since it was just the owners. I was disappointed in the portion of the banchan. They only gave us 2 pieces of kimchi, 4 pickled onions, and 2 pickled radish. You order at the counter, find a seat, pick up your order when ready, and put your dishes and tray away when done eating. Food wasn't bad, but I think I'd prefer going to Maht Gaek.
