I visited recently and was very disappointed with my experience. The food was pretty good, but it took around 15 minutes to be greeted, and quite a bit longer to get my drink. We also felt extremely rushed by the server after we received our food. I had been looking forward to giving Mi Cocina a second chance, unfortunately this visit wasn't great.

Perfect dinner night. Food was hot and delicious! & our server Alfredo was absolutely wonderful he was on every detail and brought everything we requested definitely enjoyed Mi Cosina

chips and salsa tasted store bought ive had better store bought chips than that.service was alright i don’t think my server really understood me. the sunset enchiladas are dry and not good. the brisket burrito was alright but looked like a kids meal and the salad came w no dressing. waste of money i would not go back.

Our family has been long time customers at Mi Cocina in Richardson. No one knows how to manage a restaurant better than Lupe . He makes everyone feel special and at home —and our absolute favorite waiter is Martin! The way he anticipates what you need, keeps an eye out for you, and makes sure everything you need is available, is uncanny. This place always feels like home.

Last Saturday, I reunited with a group of friends and we went to Mi Cocina because we were in the mood for margaritas. The service from our server was very good; however, we witnessed something that truly upset me.
The server accidentally spilled a little water on the floor, and in front of us and the people sitting at the bar, the restaurant manager scolded him in a very aggressive and humiliating way, waving his hands and speaking to him in an extremely disrespectful manner. The server calmly kept saying that he would clean it up and that there was no need to speak to him that way, but the manager continued treating him poorly.
It is sad to realize that by going to these places we may be supporting the mistreatment of employees. If this happened in front of customers, I don’t want to imagine what goes on behind closed doors. I hope the server did not have any further issues, because if he was treated so aggressively over something as minor as spilling a bit of water, I can’t imagine how other situations are handled.
I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I genuinely feel very bad for that worker. It is unbelievable that in 2026 these kinds of abuses toward employees still happen. I hope the company works to improve this. As for me, I cannot continue supporting businesses like this with my money

Lupe is one of the reasons we have been going to your restaurants for 25+ years. All your staff treats us with the best service in Texas! The other mangers are A+ as well. If you have never been to Mi Cocina you’re missing out on great food and atmosphere! Our family goes to celebrate every birthday.
Hands down one of the best Mexican spots I’ve ever tried. Mi Cocina never misses. The food is fresh, full of flavor, and tastes like it was made with real care, not rushed. Everything came out hot and perfectly seasoned.
The service was on point — friendly, fast, and welcoming. You can tell they actually care about their customers. The atmosphere is clean, lively, and perfect whether you’re dining with family, friends, or on a date.
Portion sizes are solid, prices are fair, and the quality speaks for itself. This is the kind of place you keep coming back to without getting bored.
Highly recommend Mi Cocina if you’re craving legit Mexican food done right. 🌮🔥

The food was honestly amazing everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for good food and great service.

My server, Martin, was very rude and condescending. I ordered one type of drink, got a completely different drink and the server tried to gaslight me. Had to go to the bar to order and get the right drink. He would “forget” to check on us several times throughout our visit and visibly ROLLED HIS EYES at us when we asked for separate checks (we were only 4 people) HORRIBLE service from this server. If you get him, ask for a different server if you want remotely good service. Honestly such a shame bc we LOVE Mi Cocina and it was such a disappointing experience. Do better.
