Don’t recommend this place at allll. I went on my lunch time and they took an hour to make my food! Aside from that, THERE WAS A COCKROACH IN MY FOOD and the fat lady claiming she was the owner didn’t even wanna give me my money back.

This is a wonderful mom and pop restaurant. You can taste the love in the food. The owners are honest, humble people making food from their heart. I’m not from Rio Grande but I’ve worked here for many years. I’ve eaten at many restaurants in Rio Grande City and surrounding towns. The food here is delicious and in my opinion is the best in town. My go to menu item is the Sombrero Loco. Their enchiladas are my favorite. Their food is always made fresh everyday and when you order. Roxie is such a people person and she goes above and beyond to make sure that your experience is excellent. I’ve had her provide meals to my staff and she has never disappointed us. If you have a special upcoming special event, Roxie can set up catering or cook on site! Excellent for office parties. Hot, fresh, delicious. If you’re looking for a good environment, good food, great atmosphere, where the owners pour their soul in their food, then you have to come to El Sombrero Loco and ask for Roxie. She’ll treat you like family and, you might find out you’re related since she knows so many people in the area. You’ll no doubt enjoy your food and have a good time. I’m big on supporting mom and pops; they are the backbone of America. They also have some “off menu items” for those special people—-ask about their Tacos De Alberto and tell her Andrew recommended them. ?

The food here is amazing. You can’t go wrong with your choice. My favorite is the Sombrero Loco, but you better have a large appetite because it’s a huge serving of food. Defiant not for the weak. Roxy and her staff pour their heart and soul in the food and that’s the missing ingredient in many local restaurants. You’ll live the atmosphere, the people and most of all the food!

We came from Wisconsin for a few days and had enjoyed some of the local eats, but this by far topped everything! Not only was the food AMAZING, but the service and atmosphere was like anything I’ve ever experienced. I felt like I had left a family members home after eating there!
