Thought I would dine local so tried Goat and Raven in Roanoke. It was a ghost town entering the building. Main dining room was roped off and a sign to go to the bar. Ordered the fried catfish. Catfish came out super hot, my Mac and cheese not so much (maybe room temp). Eventually the paper used to line my plate/tray was sticking to the catfish. Full disclosure I was recovering from some allergies so I can’t compliment or complain about any taste/seasonings.
The menu had a lot of options, but not sure what is the specialty. Beer was ice cold! Good service.

Great service and atmosphere, but the food was a no go. I got the 3 meat BBQ plate, it was very burnt and dry- not a fresh meal by any means, needless to say the meal was sent back, hubs got a cheese burger which wasn't so bad- but it was dry and really not edible. The only thing we truly enjoyed was the queso... Hopefully the kitchen will be able to restrategize their cooking method and we can re try them in the future.

The food was good but the service was super slow. We waited more than twenty minutes after they brought water before someone came to take our order. Fair warning - this is mostly a bar. One of the two waters we received already tasted like beer. ?

There should be a line out the door at this place! Delicious! Great environment! Friendly staff that feel like home! I can't explain how fantastic this place is! The rib eye steak beats ANYWHERE else! The food is exceptional! We will be back OFTEN!

Spotted Goat and Raven while exploring. Atmosphere and service is exceptional! Southern comfort food. My husband loved his chopped steak, mashed potatoes green beans. I had fried catfish. Fish tasted fresh but had that fishy taste that indicates that the oily bits weren’t removed when cleaning. I’m a Louisiana girl, so I’m a tough critic on seafood. Overall I highly recommend.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! I had the Tuesday lunch special sliced brisket and grilled chicken combo. Everything was grilled to perfection. Great portions and quite reasonably priced. Fast and friendly service. Glad I stopped in.
We stumbled upon this gem roughly one month ago and have been back several times since. From the old saloon style atmosphere to the friendly staff we have found nothing not to like. We have ordered different items from the menu each time and have not been disappointed. If you’re looking for a high end fancy restaurant this is not your place, if your looking for fantastic food at even better prices, you won’t be disappointed!
