I usually don’t leave reviews, but this experience deserves to be documented.

I ordered two burgers, sweet potato fries, and tater tots. Simple request: both burgers with no mayo, and one with no lettuce. The dining room had one other customer, yet the food took 25 minutes. When I got home, both burgers were covered in mayo, and the one that should’ve had no lettuce had giant pieces hanging off the side.

I called the restaurant expecting a quick correction, and mentioned that I shouldn’t have to drive back if the order had been made correctly to begin with. Instead, I hear someone named Angie yelling through the hostess that I couldn’t receive a corrected burger unless I returned the wrong one. Fine.

I drove back with the incorrect burger. When I arrived, no one greeted me. Angie was sitting at a high-top table in the corner while I stood at the counter for five minutes holding the bag. When she finally approached, I explained the issue and handed her the burger.

What happened next was unreal.

She opened the burger, flipped through every layer with her fingers, mayo and lettuce smeared across the counter, and then tried to tell me I ordered it wrong and that the burger had been made correctly. She ignored the very clear instructions the ticket showed. I mentioned the soggy sweet potato fries, checked the replacement burger myself, and then asked for the corporate number.

She first wrote down the number to the Rosenberg store, hoping I wouldn’t notice. When I asked again for corporate or the owner’s number, she reluctantly wrote down a different one while saying, “Corporate will tell you the same thing I say.” When I asked for the manager’s name, she slowly spelled out “Burger Barn” like that was supposed to be helpful. She didn’t want to give me her own name until other customers walked in.

I checked their website afterward. They claim to value great food, friendly service, and treating customers like family.

What I experienced was the exact opposite:

A 25-minute wait for the wrong order

A manager flipping through my food on the counter

Blame-shifting instead of accountability

Hostility when asked for help

Dishonesty about corporate contact information

Zero professionalism in an empty restaurant

This isn’t customer service. This isn’t pride in your work. And this absolutely isn’t how you treat people who support your business. If this is the level of leadership in the building, it explains everything.

Until management is replaced or retrained on the values they claim to stand for, I won’t be back. And I genuinely hope the owners read this, because today’s experience was embarrassing for the brand.

Picked up an order. Taco shells were old and tough. Not crispy at all. Chicken fried steak was hamburger meat with a batter coating. Never again!!! This place used to be good back in the day!! It is awful now!!!

The food is SO good here!!! Growing up in South Texas my parents would take us out to eat at little hole in the wall type of places and the food was soooo good. This place took me back to those days. The staff is friendly. I've had the classic and their fish sandwich(grilled), both were so delicious!! Can't wait to go back and try all their burgers!!

Wow. Not gonna overdo it, but this place makes one heck of a good burger. Got a bacon cheeseburger, no onion for me, and I got sweet potato fries, to go. First thing I noticed - actual lettuce! Not the crappy white core of the lettuce, an actual piece of beautiful green lettuce. From there, I was on the road to heaven.

Perfectly cooked - bacon and burger - a well balanced burger. Brioche bun? Who could ask for more.

I highly recommend The Burger Barn, and I can’t wait to try out some of their other specials!

Great place for a sit down burger. Clean and organized, quick service, and a great selection of food (not just burgers). The day we went the girl who took our order was super friendly and checked in with us often which was very nice.

4 years later...
Second update from Yesterday's edit, aug. 18th 2025. Wife and kid at home sick with food poisening... I don't feel much better either. And being that we only ate there yesterday makes me suspicious already. Be aware.

So I'm writing this 4 years later as a much needed update about this place. 4 years ago when I learned about this place, it quickly became our families favorite burger spot. We ate here once a week, and never disappointed. Now Aug 17th 2025, we figured hey let's go here for a quick lunch. The lady at the counter which I got the impression shes been doing this for waaaay too long and needs to retire. Wouldn't let us add mayo to a kids burger for one, no tea was made and I've always loved their seet tea. The soda fountain needs some serious calibration with the flavors...not good. The bacon was undercooked, the meat patty tasted like it was boiled in water and threw on the grill for 2 seconds. The stringy meat... gross. The lady came to check in on us half way thru the meal and try to tell my wife, you know if you don't like all that bread you can substitute for lettuce wrap, the problem was that the bread was so soggy it was not edible... unreal... This place used to be the spot to go to, and even the last time we were here a few months ago was still good. But now, stay away from this place. The service is garbage, the food is garbage, the overall atmosphere has gone downhill. It really saddens me to have to leave this updated review. I really hope one day this place will thrive again.

Had a bad craving for a good ol fashioned burger and this place is where it's at. Best burger around, hands down. First time here and will be coming back for more. Next time I'll try their burger challenge. We'll worth it

You’re charged a credit card transaction fee at this location. Also, the food at this location is not as good as other locations. The lady (owner or manager) walking around monitoring everything made for an unwelcoming environment. First time at this location. Will go to the other location in the future.
