I am gluten sensitive and for me, it's a bread desert out there. But I can eat long fermented bread because the gluten is somehow changed during a 24 hour fermentation. This is the only bakery in the area that I have found that does it this way. The bread is amazing!

Their sourdough bread is absolutely delicious, but inconvenient to buy. Their hours are very limited only being open 4 days per week, but on top of that don’t plan on getting sliced bread in the morning. They open at 9am and for the last 4 weeks I’ve come in around opening time and only once was I able to purchase what I wanted.

First week - everything was perfect! Got a round loaf sliced and the employees were great. Delicious sourdough bread.

Second week - was told I could not purchase a round loaf because they were already all sold to wholesale…. Okay, weird. It’s just their standard white sourdough, and they’re sold out at opening?

Third week - wanted a round sourdough loaf, but they were unable to cut it since it was too warm. Instead offered the sourdough sandwich loaf since it was already sliced. Not what I wanted but bread was delicious so left happy.

Fourth week - asked for sandwich loaf sliced shortly after opening, same as I got the week before, and was told they can’t slice it because it’s too warm. They have no sliced bread. I asked what time they sell them sliced and was told 1030/11am.

I’m just baffled. I love their sourdough bread but after not being able to buy what I wanted the last 3 out of 4 weeks I will not make it a regular thing to buy bread from them. If you have your eyes set on a sliced loaf don’t come in the morning!

The past few times I’ve been here I’ve felt very unwelcome. I don’t understand it, because I’m just purchasing and supporting a local establishment. I am not asking for anything special or being difficult at all but the people who work here are unfriendly. I’ve known about this place for about two months, over that time I’ve easily spent over $300. After this recent experience I understand that this is not a person having a bad day or a one off, this is how they are. It’s an inconvenience for you to come here so I don’t recommend this place. Everything is great the bread, food, cookies, they sell my favorite eggs but I’ll buy elsewhere.

We love Sanford Sourdough! My toddler and I frequent there and her response when leaving is always “that was fun, mom!” Not only is the food/bread fantastic, I feel good about the ingredients. They also provide coloring pages and toys for kids and are very family friendly, which is why it’s become a favorite lunch spot of ours. The staff is always wonderfully nice as well!

Hands down, the best sour dough in Texas, maybe the country. As our grandson says, "this is the best bread I have eaten in my whole life." I can't argue that. Their soups are outstanding and served with a slice of their bread. Lunch choices are centered around their bread and should not be missed. This is a must if you want real, healthy FRESH bread.

I really want to give this place 5 stars because the quality of ingredients and the bread is really good. We came over the weekend everyone was nice and we really enjoyed our lunch. We spent like $70-80 with lunch and other products they sell. We really want to support small businesses. This seemed like a great place to support. I was legit ready to never buy bread from HEB again.

Today was a different experience. The woman working the front acted like we were a bother. This is what we ordered 1 chicken sandwich, chips, a danish, and two drinks from the cooler. We grabbed our drinks and sat down. What we got was a chicken sandwich. That’s it. I waited in line and she saw me standing there but kept ignoring me and packaging someone’s soup. I get it, you’re busy but you can multitask and look up say something like “Hey what can I get you” because obviously you just helped me 8 minutes ago and my food is sitting on the table. So I finally get her attention and ask for the chips. I see her trying to get lids on soup so I offer “You want me to grab them?” They’re in line of sight she seemed really busy with two people in line. In a kinda snooty way she said “Sure” and then just disappeared. It was all really awkward and I’ll probably just order half a loaf to go from now on.

We considered leaving without even getting the danish but as others have said, it’s pretty pricey $5.55 for a small pastry. My husband asked the guy working and he was kind, apologized and gave us the rest of our order. Overall, not the best experience.

Bought a foccacia and baguette at the Wolf Ranch Farmers Market. $20 for just these 2 items. Baguette was without flavor, tough/chewy. Foccacia was extremely dry and also without flavor. Will not buy from them again.

From San Francisco and the bread is a good SF sourdough bread. The closest so far I have been able to find. Try and enjoy.
