Soulman's Bar-B-Que Reviews
First time trying it and was not impressed! I should have known when I stepped out of my car and didn’t smell BBQ cooking!! Food tasted like it had been cooked in an oven not a smoker and was very dry, tater salad had too much mustard, beans tasted like a third grader fixed them and the pies are just so so. We both had a 2 meat plate with a small drink and 2 pies.. $58 😩
It’s overpriced and dry. My dogs eat better food than they serve here. The entire meal was awful and portions were ridiculously tiny for the price . No thanks!!! Avoid the NRH one…gross!

Soulman's Bar-B-Que in Royse City is a popular spot known for its delicious BBQ and tasty side dishes. The restaurant has a special charm, and despite some construction, parking remains ample. The friendly staff works hard to accommodate dietary restrictions, ensuring everyone has a pleasant dining experience. Recently, the restaurant started doing seasoning, which has made the food even better, adding super good flavor to the BBQ.
The staff's energy and the honest, hardworking team create a positive vibe, and the overall atmosphere is a chill spot for all, including kids and those needing wheelchair accessibility. Customers especially enjoy the weekend nights, with some ordering the 3 meat plate or triple brisket plate with a fully loaded baked potato. The service is known for being excellent, and many customers drive long distances just to enjoy the quality of the BBQ. After the meal, visitors can still enjoy the free ice cream cone.
The Royse City location is considered the best by customers, who have tried other Soulman's locations. The sign outside, which reads "God loves you," has drawn in customers, who appreciate the boldness. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and even helped with decorations for a customer's birthday party. The portions are always Texas-sized, and the food is delicious, with the moist brisket, hot and fresh fish fry, and sides being particular favorites. The free ice cream is a sweet way to end the meal.
