If you are in Salado this place is a must try! The service was excellent and the food was even better.

I’d give them 10 stars if I could.

Best BRUNCH I’ve had in a long long time!

My husband and I have been coming here for years. It has been our consistent “go to” restaurant for special occasions. The ambiance, food, and service have always been impeccable and have, in our minds, justified the high prices.
We took my parents here for dinner on Saturday 10/11/25 for my mom’s 76th birthday. I am sad to say that something has changed. I even tried doing a search to see if there are new owners or a new chef, but could not find any info.
The food was very average. Our “go to” dishes like the crispy Brussel sprouts and bread pudding did not taste anything like they normally do. My mom and I both ordered the chicken which was very plain and overcooked. My husband, who ordered his steak medium received a rare steak and my dad, who ordered his medium-rare, received an overdone streak. Even the service was different. I’m not sure what happened, but we were so disappointed. With a check of nearly $400 for 4 people I expect better than this. We will not be back until I hear that things have gone back to what they used to be.

Wow!
We were recommended by the locals to come here for a cocktail but then go elsewhere for dinner, since we weren’t wanting to spend a lot for food. We decided to get the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and they were so phenomenal, we just kept ordering different items!
We ended up getting the Alexander salad, which was wonderful, the crab cakes, which were also amazing, and the chicken, which was delightful, but the broccolini left something to be desired.
Our only slight issue was our server was brand new, and wasn’t quite as knowledgeable about wine profiles and menu items, but she was lovely otherwise.
Sit on the deck, it’s gorgeous!

Was greatly disappointed! The food was awful! My tenderloin was over cooked and very chewy! The chicken was very dry and overcooked as well. We will not recommend this restaurant to anyone

Alexanders is a farm to table type of restaurant, which works well with my diet restrictions. It's good to know exactly what is in my food!
We've wanted to try them out, and I don't know why it took so long!!
We went for brunch on Saturday at 11:15a - and it wasn't crowded. They are part of the Inn at the Creek and the grounds and ambiance is lovely! We chose to sit on the deck and had a beautiful view of the creek.
Service was excellent - and they did not rush you at all. The menu is limited for both brunch and dinner, but I think there is something everyone would like.
We started with the freshly made biscuits - which came with house made jam and butter. Today's was peach and OMG..it was SO good!! I had to stop myself at one, although my husband had two! It's hard to get a biscuit light and tender, and these were both. I'm drooling again thinking about them!!
I had the spring onion omelette, and he had the crispy chicken and waffles.
The omelette was french style, not puffy, and light colored, but cooked nicely (I'm not a fan of goopy type eggs!). The potatoes were also more like a french style - not browned, but seasoned well and cooked til fork tender. It came with a fresh mix of salad greens and lemon/olive oil to pour on top. Very tasty and a nice light meal because I needed to make it to dessert!
The chicken and waffles were done well also. He loved that they deboned the thighs, and they were crispy and juicy. The waffles were quite good also. I'm not sure how he ate the whole thing, but he did!!
We decided to skip dessert because we were pretty funny! But our lovely waitress Janai gave us a complimentary piece of their sponge cake with lemon cream filling to go. WOW..it was amazing..and they almost had me at the blueberry bread pudding..but we were full! Next time..definitely dessert! I included some pics of the lovely scenary also. The Inn also looked like a wonderful place for a weekend getaway!

My partner and I have always enjoyed eating at Alexander's and the service is always great (make a reservation and ask for Amy). The front desk needs some definite improvement. We always request a specific table when making our reservation but the last time we had dinner there we were seated at a different table but requested our table as the people were leaving as we were being seated - they could have asked us to wait a few minutes and our table would be ready as the people who were seated at it were preparing. And then when we were seated at our requested table the staff was very surly and made it very clear that they were unhappy with us. Then on this last Wednesday I called from Dalhart Texas and made a dinner reservation for Saturday evening at 6:30. When I called on Saturday afternoon to confirm our reservation they indicated that they didn't have our reservation but could fit us in at 8:00. I told them no and that we would find someplace else to eat in Salado. I checked Open Table and it indicated that there were open times at 6:30 and 7:15. I called Alexander's back and asked about a reservation and told them about the opening times per Open Table and they indicated it was a technology issue and they didn't have those times available but they could squeeze us in at 7:30. I told them that was to late in the evening and we ended up eating at another fine dining restaurant in Salado. Don't know if we will go back as we usually eat Alexander's at least once every two months.

The restaurant is charming. Parking should be marked for the restaurant AND the inn because parking signs say for the inn only and there is nowhere marked for Alexander's. Also, there is no handicapped parking. When we arrived I was seated and I asked for the hostess to let my husband know where I was. That did not happen so he had to wander around looking for me. Our waitress was very pleasant but the food came out barely warm. The ribeye was extremely good but the side dishes were bland. After dinner we went up to the lounge and sat on the porch. It is very pleasant out there in the evening. We ordered the same wine that we were having with our dinner and it tasted bad in the bar. Apparently it was from a bottle that had been open for awhile which is not good for Pinot noir. They did open a new bottle and it was good. We got to the bar around 9. It closes at 10. They brought our check at 9:30 without asking if we wanted anything else. I ordered another glass of wine and after it was delivered, the waitress began taking umbrellas down all around us. It felt like we were being rushed out and made the experience much less enjoyable. I feel like the management should work with the staff better to reinforce customer care and satisfaction. Overall we enjoyed Alexander's but we would not rush back. It could be such a wonderful place with a little better management.

The food made me cry it was so good and the service was impeccable. From the host who sat us down and made us feel very welcome to the server who shared her joyful disposition with us, we were absolutely captivated the whole time. Our server was Amy who is truly a gem. She told us many of the things to do around town and how to get a deeper look into the history around here, which is exactly why we came. This restaurant and the Inn on the Creek have been one of the best travel decisions I've made in a long time and I have no doubt I'll be back.

Celebrated a dear friend’s birthday at Alexander’s and Mark provided amazing service! He went out of his way to make her feel special and honor her. The food was amazing as was the atmosphere! We will definitely dine in again.

Our reservation unfortunately was not completed because when we arrived we were told the area we were reserved for was full and were seated downstairs instead. I'm not sure if they took walk-ins and forgot to plan for reserved seating, but a reservation should be honored and planned for. Love this beautiful location. Hoping for better service in the future.

I have dined at this restaurant numerous times and usually enjoy it thoroughly, however, the last few times I've been there, they have changed and reduced the menu options. They have removed some of my favorite dishes and are serving a heavy pork-based menu. Sadly, I do not eat pork!

The restaurant is very pretty and nostalgic. We dined on the 2nd floor on the veranda. The location is quaint. I would have appreciated some type of centerpieces on the tables to enhance the overall experience. Also, we didn't get any complimentary bread, house bread, or table bread that's typically standard at fine dining venues. The wait was a bit awkward without it as a welcoming gesture. Although the food was tasty, the portions were small. This is the first time ever that I didn't have to take food when leaving. My husband and I frequent 5-star and James Beard restaurants.

Our server mark was awesome and good was great! One slight issue with food which was corrected immediately. We will be back again..strongly recommend to others.

Definitely a must! Mark took great care of us and ensured we knew all the specifics of the dishes and allowed us to make the best choice for us! The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and food is top notch! The beef tenderloin and the shrimp meals along with the truffle ricotta and crème brule were awesome!
