my husband and i have been coming here since we first met, we love it! the beer is cold and the food is good, what more can you ask for? highly recommend the bbq 'tater, the loaded fries (add the chopped beef, it's worth it), and of course, anything with brisket. staff is friendly- and don't forget to say hi to the cat outside! the venue out back looks neat and lowkey. one of these days we'll make it to one of the concerts, haha.

If you are looking for fast service for a sandwich don’t bother. It took them more than 20 minutes to get a chopped beef sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich to go.

We did the outside concert experience.. The food was great.. The service was great.. And Braxton Keith and band were exceptional!

Great brisket, reasonable prices.

I'm from a small town in the atmosphere here reminded me of home. Lots of real folks eating real food.
My wife had the chicken fried steak with tater tot casserole and a salad.
Our daughter had the ribs and brisket two meat plate with french fries and coleslaw.
I devoured a medium rare 16 oz ribeye that was most excellent.
Oh and I had two cold beers....

Everything about it was just great. We appreciate this place.

Tonight the fries were just so so. Our waitress forgot about us several times including our to-go order of brisket which should take about 2 minutes but ended up taking about 20.

That being said, this is one of my favorite spots and we're going to be back soon.

June 2025 came back for amazing cheeseburgers.

The chicken fried steak was perfect and the very best.

We were there on a Thur before 5 pm and seated in the Cantina. We waited an hour and the food never arrived. The waitress kept telling us that the food was coming out. We finally left…hungry. We won’t be back.

I am writing to share my disappointment with my recent experience at your music venue. As a first-time concert attendee, I was disheartened by the lack of activities available for children. The absence of options like corn hole or horseshoes, unless sponsored, created a sense of exclusion. Children need opportunities for interaction, and it was disheartening to see them bored or acting out due to the lack of engagement. Food is delicious! Music was wonderful!

First of all I would like to start by saying the decor was nice I especially love the tables in the rustic design.
Now on to the food I had the Johnny q but it was exactly as advertised we even bought one to take home even though she doesn't know she's only getting less than half .
The combo plate with brisket and sausage was good also in the house barbecue sauce was amazing .
Are beverages were not up to par,
of our licking but it was good enough to get a positive rating.
Overall the experience was good.
the food was wonderful !!
The atmosphere was a odd, seemed forced at times but the food is so good I would definitely still recommend Johnny's to everyone.

The all-star of the meal was the pecan cobbler. Never heard of it before, but it was AWESOME! The bread slices were nice too, had a “fresh-baked” feel.

We also had the pulled pork (not bad, but came sauced, so no control of that), brisket (was ok), sausage (delicious), cheese & jalapeño sausage (not as good as the regular, but not bad), turkey (disappointing, looked processed and tasted like dirty smoke), potato salad (just ok), and mac & cheese (creamy, but not a lot of flavor).

Service was great, responsive and respectful.

Johnny’s Steakhouse in Salado, Texas, is a fantastic spot that offers a great combination of delicious food, a unique atmosphere, and live entertainment. Their menu is packed with flavorful options that are always cooked to perfection. Whether you’re in the mood for a steak, burgers, or comfort food classics, you won’t be disappointed.

The facility itself is charming and welcoming, with a rustic yet polished vibe that feels distinctly Texan. It’s a great place to relax with friends or family. What really sets Johnny’s apart is their live music. They consistently bring in top-notch bands, making it a hotspot for both great dining and entertainment. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Salado!
