Great little restaurant providing a variety of breakfast, lunch, and bakery items. I ordered half a chicken salad sandwich on dourdough bread with potato salad as a side. The bread was fresh and sandwich tasty. The potato salad was good but not as flavorful as I would have liked. I ordered coconut cream pie and, being a bit of a coconut cream pie snob, was disappointed that the pie was topped with meringue rather than fresh cream. Nonetheless, it was tasty so if you like meringue by all means order it! I arrived near closing time mid week and received great service.

The breakfast was perfect, plenty of seating, and the cinnamon rolls- OMG. Take an extra home. We'd intended on a bit.of shopping Saturday, but decided on a quick breakfast- we chose well. Everyone was so nice, including other patrons. We got into a great discussion with an older couple at the next table (they saw our cinnamon rolls and were jealous). Just a nice comfy place for food.

The wife and I wanted to go to some place different for breakfast this morning 9/21/25 we picked McCain's Bakery & Cafe from a search on google. Wow what a great place all the staff were fantastic! A shout out to Nate our server he was awesome I mean it, not every day you meet a young man like him good job parents. The food was the best really great American breakfast and the decor was very welcoming. And every where I looked there were families enjoying themselves and I told my wife I looked over a a set of parents three grown grandsons and a pair of grandparents and I said now that's church to me. If your looking for a place to eat and socialize they way it used to be in the south don't pass by McCain's Bakery & Cafe you will not regret it, and soak up the good old fashion family atmosphere and the feel of community is wonderful and Nate thank you again for being such a wonderful server. we highly recommend everyone stop by McCain's Bakery & Cafe

Waited an hour;, food finally came. They let to-go orders take priority over customers sitting waiting on food they ordered. One couple that was there before us left never getting their food after an hour they said. This seems to be a common thing that goes on here.

We just walked out! We sat in the restaurant for 1 hr and 15 mins with no customers except one table that already had their food. We intentionally came in early to order breakfast before they got busy. 2 big parties and 2 other tables came in after we had ordered. A big party and two other other tables got their food right out and they came in after us and our order. The waitress said that the other waitress snuck her tickets in before ours. WHAT? The truth is that our waitress failed to get our tickets in at all. When she discovered this, she told us there where other parties in front of us, which was not true. The fact is she made a mistake. After waiting an hour and 15 mins we walked out. They continue to take TO GO orders which have priority over customers sitting in the restaurant for over an hour. The saddest part is this is like the third time we have ordered food waited an hour and saw TO GO orders going out the door. We have lived here for years it's so unfortunate to treat local customers this way. We will NEVER COME BACK and tell everyone we know about the way customers are treated.

Our first time visiting(myself, my husband and our 3 young children) It was a Saturday around lunch time, it was very busy and the food did take a long time to come out. But, the staff did wonderful and did the very best they could. Amazing service. The food was good, my only Complaint was the price. It was a bit pricey. But overall not disappointed at all in our experience.

Had a very disappointing experience today. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated (which is fine), we then waited about 40 minutes for an omelette and a Benedict. The omelette was hardly an omelette (eggs folded over a bunch of crumbled sausage) and the Benedict was overdone so we had to send it back and wait another 10-15 for it to be remade. It also seems we were charged for an orange juice refill that we did not ask for, the waitress just brought it on her own. So almost $50 and 1.5 hours later, not feeling very happy with our experience.
Fantastic little café with some of the best country style breakfast around. It gets busy quick but if you can catch a table its worth it.

We tried McCain's Bakery and Cafe, and the experience was fantastic! The staff was incredibly friendly, and though the place is small, it’s very cozy. The Salado coffee was exceptional—not bitter at all, with a delightful hint of maple syrup. The food is cooked to order, so be prepared for a short wait, but it’s well worth it. I highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in the Salado area!
