Came here 15 min b4 closing and was asked yall want a burger - already shut down the grill- SMH- ok we will just take some ice cream!!! Then pay $9.50 for 2 waffle cones where ice cream was barely above edge of cone - SMH x 2- Ummmm dont think we will be back- used to be very good several years back, not so much anymore 😱😱
Burgers were amazing. Staff was alternative and polite. Before I knew it was all gone, therefore I didn't get any pictures. But next time I will. Definitely recommend.

Sadly today I walked into this place at 4:31 they close at 5:00 shouldn't take that long to make a burger I'm thinking 5 to 10 minutes now and I can eat in 10 minutes that means only been out of the place by 4:55. I'd like to think i am a smart and normal guy, hell I got a degree, but this young lady in the photograph basically said the grill was closed, like what does that mean to me? If you were to ask me, it looked like she was ready to get the heck out of there. Again sadly I don't like to give band reviews but the owner needs to know what's going on and if she's the owner then stream on her this would have been my first time going there and I was really looking forward to some old fashioned Burgers to be honest with you. I uploaded proof at the time I got there in the time I left, and the photograph of the lady that basically told me it was shut down. My advice to this woman would be to change your hours to 4:30. Therefore, when they do close at 4:30, then no one will show up. Again, I don't like to give bad reviews, but I don't think I'm asking too much.
Update: 10-2-2024 4:11pm. Came back like a fool, and the same lady said the grill was closed per her owner!! I was such in disbelief that I told her I would never come here again. They close at 5 pm. Came to subway next door. Also you have to come to the subway next door to get drinks because their drink machine doesn't work. Horrible management period.
Update same day: What I think is going on is the lady working the grill is double dipping on the owners expense. She showed up to subway where I had to go next door. She is working at subway now at 4:31 pm. Crazy stuff. Check out photo.

Old fashion burgers and ice cream of Salado next to subway .
Went in with my patient with dementia and she just got finished taking her dog to the park wanted to stop in and try this place out !!!
The worker lady looked lazy and acted like she hated her job she told us that we are not allowed to have a dog in the BUILDING but it was a tiny dog and we were only ordering and then leaving her name was VICKIE !! We went ahead and ordered but she had a nasty attitude and I watched her with other customers and she was rude to them too !! Who is this lady ??and she is not friendly or courteous at all . The owners need to know that this person should not be working here .we live in Salado for years and never experience this kind of service before !!
We won’t be going back unless there’s a change in the place !!!!

It was delicious. The fried okra was cooked perfectly. The burger is a classic flavor and buttered and toasted sesame seed bun.

I was disappointed. I drove 20 minutes to eat at this location on Sunday 7/14 to find out they were closed. They need to update their website. The website said open daily.

Okay I found this treasure by accident. I was looking for a subway in saledo, tx. The directions brought me here. Which half the building is a subway amd the other half is Burgers and Ice cream. The have plenty of seating. Clean. Clean bathrooms. The menu rocks and is simple. Reasonably priced and I hope that doesn't change. The food is amazing, delicious, mouthwatering. So far I've tried their chicken sandwich, cheeseburger and onion rings. They make everything when you order it. This is not fast food service. IT does take time to order and time to make your food. But so worth it. Great for families and wheel chairs. Haven't tried thr ice cream yet but will do soon. Alsonthey have a toppings bar for your pickles, onions, jalapeños, etc and condiments. Th I s is hands down one of the best burger places ever. Sorry I didn't take photos of the food but I will when I go back.

I was extremely excited to try this place out with my family but was quickly disappointed. We waited a good 20 minutes for burgers and fries. We ordered 2 junior burgers and 2 old fashioned burgers both with fries. The crinkly fries were overcooked. The junior burgers are the size of a breakfast sausage on a regular bun, they do not come with cheese. The old fashioned burgers are made with what seems to be frozen square patties, and are cooked all the way through, so super done. You get your choice of cheese and the buns are toasted. We ended up giving our kids the old fashioned burgers. I combined the “sausage” patties to make a half burger for my husband and I threw my toasted buns away. The condiments were nonexistent, ketchup jars were empty, we had to ask for pickles, and the area was unkept. I only gave it a 1 star because we did have shakes and they were ok. Do not recommend for food, not worth the money. It has potential but it needs adult supervision.

This was a 2 all the way around. The staff didn't care, the food was edible not good, and the atmosphere was bland. Our group of 7 all agreed it wasn't for us. There ranch tasted more like tartar sauce so weird. Although the staff didn't seem to care they were friendly.

We stopped here on our way back to Dallas from Laredo since my mom wanted a burger. I'm so glad we did. They were delicious! I paired my burger with onion rings (some of the best I've ever tasted) and my mom had fried okra with hers (yum!). They let you know your food is ready and you go to the counter to pick up your burger basket and you head to the bar where you top and fix it how you want. They looked so goo we dug in and forgot to take pics of our food! LOL I also had a strawberry shake. It was perfect, and an actual milkshake with milk and ice cream, not just soft serve. This will definitely be a stop we'll make when we go down south and back again.
Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu.
