Slow service. I believe we had three waiters as each wandered off. The final waiter was pretty good but the other kids really need more training. The food was not bad and some interesting variations on standard TexMex. Multiple items were not available, either they had run out or the item was discontinued. In one case the waiter tried to argue they didn't serve such an item until we had to show them on the menu. I wouldn't recommend nor would I return.

We just had chips and salsa and nachos and the salsa had no flavor. Then beef was terrible and the queso was bland. The menu says $6 for a rum and it cost $10. The server was nice but other than that .I don't think I would ever go there again. Casa Garcia's is about 30 minutes away and worth the drive. Much better quality ,better prices, and better everything.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon. Right off the bat the vibe was wrong. There was no one at the hostess stand when we walked in . When they finally realized we were waiting to be seated they did not have any clean menus for us to look at and it took them a good 5-7 minutes to get us one. Our waiter took forever to get to our table and take our order we ended up just getting chips and some drinks and heading out.

Such a charming spot in the heart of Salado! The food is excellent, the patio area has gorgeous surroundings, and there’s a bouncy house for the kiddos. I’ll definitely be back!

We strolled in during the Oktoberfest event across the street at the brewery. No wait. Strong air conditioning. Plenty of seating options.

The good:

The salsa and scratch made chips are very well made. Salsa is quality, seasoned perfectly with very little heat if any. Pairs perfectly with the chips. They're brown. Not burnt.

The atmosphere is cozy without being overly Mexican restaurant feels. Well lit and ample seating.

The menu is decent with several options to choose from. Tacos. Nachos. Plates. Flights. With alcohol available.

The mid:

The flight of tacos were seasoned okay. Nothing really popped or was a hit. Could've used more salt, garlic, spice level. Street nachos were the street corn on top of their chips. Nothing stands out. And there's no cheese. On nachos?

Ordered a michelada, received something similar but much stronger. Didn't complain. Just wasn't what we ordered.

Pricing seems reasonable. $12-15 per main entree. $8-12 for apps.

The bad:

Service was slow for noon on a Saturday.

Seasoning seemed bland or one note across the board. Everything seemed to have mayonnaise on or with it. And was the only thing other than the salsa that had any salt.

Offer your patrons a grilled jalapeno on the side to give them a spicier option.

Nothing gained nothing lost. Won't likely return, unless there's a line at the other nearby restaurants.

My friend, our 5 kids under 5, and I had a great experience. The waitress was SUPER sweet! The food (especially chips and taco shell) were so so yummy. My kids enjoyed playing outside. We can’t wait to be back!

After wandering around Salado, we ended up here, and I’m so glad we did! The owner, Brooke, was engaging, the waitress attentive, and the food delicious! I had the Taco Salad and my friend ordered the Austin Bowl, both flavorful and filling! I would come back again!

I want to like this place sooo bad because I love the location and the concept, but it is just not happening.

The food and drinks are so inconsistent that we’re gambling every time. This last visit was the worst. I usually like the margaritas and the Mama’s limeade, even when the food isn’t great, but they were terrible this last time. First time I’ve ever had a bad margarita in my life. And the food was not good at all. I got the sweet potato bowl, and the sweet potatoes were not seasoned and were really just soft mush. My friend got the pineapple chicken street tacos, and she said there was absolutely no flavor there either and that it tasted like straight canned chicken. We didn’t want to-go boxes. The ONLY redeeming quality (other than our server - she was good) was the chips. We finally weren’t charged for them as an “appetizer” - yay! They tasted good, and the green salsa was good.

If I was rating off this visit alone, it would be 1* without question. But I have liked things in the past. Usually the margaritas and limeade, and I’ve also liked their breakfast tacos, enchilada stack, brussels sprouts, and shrimp tacos. They have a playground and also a bounce house on the weekend. However, the inconsistencies every visit and this embarrassing last visit with my out of town friend were enough for us to really avoid going back. I would recommend going elsewhere in Salado.

Went for the GLOW back to school event. First I have to mention, charging for chips & salsa at a Mexican restaurant in Texas is blasphemous. The chips as my 10 year old said, sucks. The fried pickles are awful, mainly just fried batter and what seemed to be pickle skins, no actual pickle. I asked about any specials, the waitress said none but I found out later that kids ate free that night plus there were drink specials in place for the event. I had to track down our waitress twice for refills, etc. The best thing this place has going for it is its location & the atmosphere but all in all, I would say thumbs down. 👎

This was our first time and we thorough enjoyed it. We had the street corn nachos & street taco flight and both were absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful outside environment! Would have been perfect to bring our kids to and let them run around and play. Right across from the river/spring and the nice landscaping made it really enjoyable to be there. The tortilla chips are really good. It kind of unique and thicker but surprisingly delicious. So happy to find this gem!

I loved their street corn nachos! Chips were unique, made in house and thicker than normal so my nachos did not get soggy. The corn and sauces were perfectly paired and just the right amount with the chips
