First time to eat at this restaurant. We were a party of nine and the service was excellent. The wait person was meticulous in taking our order. She gave us just the right amount time to review the menu. The food was served in a timely fashion. Nine people, nine different entrees and no one complained. Highly recommend this restaurant

They really did do a good job renovating. They did tear down some walls but they opened it and utilized the space. While they did modernize the look they did keep many of the old familiar historical spaces.
Love what they did with the huge post oak inside.

I was really disappointed in the hush puppies, they were very heavy and kinda gooey...not like the treasured Stagecoach hush puppies of old. Still no more bullion, no strawberry kiss and the portions are about half of what they used to be.

The price reflects this a little but still alot for a mediocre portion and mediocre quality. Very disappointed in the chicken fried steak...very plain, thin and just blah and bland gravy..just tasted like flour.

We were there for happy hour, but only a handful of drinks were available for that pricing....so I drank ice tea for my birthday.
I think I'm done with Stagecoach...until the next owner comes along.

Spacious restaurant in historic setting. They have many tables, booths, and bar stools with an island bar at the center of the dining room, the kitchen open at one end and a mirror at the other end.
We tried the grilled cheese and the patty melt. Their sample hush puppies were good, and the glazed carrots were especially good. We look forward to trying other specialties and their happy hour when we return.
The restaurant is located on the West side of the main North South road through town, right across from the local museum. They have lodgings and an evening bar in back as well as a gift shop to the side. It was fun to walk around the grounds after eating and see the historical markers.
There is free parking available on surrounding streets.

We had an excellent experience here. We had family coming together from the Dallas and San Antonio area and they were incredibly accommodating. I made a reservation and they were prepared for our large group and so kind to the multiple children that were in our group. The food was excellent as well. Thank you so much to our wonderful waitress and all the staff for your hospitality and efforts to making our family dinner so perfect.

Newly renovated, I personally liked the old restaurant but the new one has a lot more room. First time we came in the service was excellent, second time was not good. Food is always hot and the old hush puppy recipe was way better. But overall the food is good, the apple dumpling was sooo tasty!

Breakfast is to go only in the mornings. Dinning room opens at lunch. The coffee cake is amazing. Definitely worth it.

To be fair, they didn’t have a full breakfast as I came on Monday. They only had a few baked goods which were ok. I LOVE the atmosphere and would try this place again for lunch or early dinner.

May be the best option nearby in a very cute area. I had the chicken fried chicken this evening; a bit dry but real. Entrees only come with one side so I ordered another, mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. Close your eyes and listen, childhood memories of Luby’s return. But over $90 after tip for two adults and two kids, four waters, and one adult beverage. Lacked gluten free options as well.

This causes me brain pain:
They served me a chicken fried steak without gravy and didn't tell me until they put it in front of me.(They were out of gravy)
My brother got food poisoning the same night from, fried chicken that was pink in the middle.

You've been warned!

They had gluten free brownies and cookies. The tomato bisque soup was great.

The food is excellent and consistent.

I’ve stopped in for breakfast a few times and the parfait is absolutely amazing if you’re a fruit and yogurt fan. I love that I can pick any seat and have a quiet conversation or pull out my laptop while I eat. We’ve had dinner / lunch a few times + meals to go. The chicken fried steak is excellent and my kids love the chicken tenders & steak fingers. Also, the bar drinks are great!

My family brought me here for Mother’s Day after church, and I knew it would be an absolute mad house. But, good food is worth the wait. The service, though… I have well over 10 things I could list out, but for the sake of not being repetitive I will just include the highlights - Our waitress, Nola(?), had a snarky outrageously nasty attitude from the second we were seated for absolutely no reason. She spilt tea all over the table (and plates) at least 3 separate times, leaving it for us to clean up and topped it all off by repeatedly messing with her shoes / feet immediately before serving food. It was all bad enough that my 12 year old asked “what’s her problem”…

We haven’t been back and as much as I looked forward to their re-opening and substantially less ostentatious vibe, it’s probably going to be a long while before we go again.

My wife and I recently enjoyed lunch at the reopened Stagecoach Restaurant in Salado, Texas. The new management has done a great job in bringing back a lovely atmosphere (each table had a different bouquet of wildflowers), sunny, bright and comfortable (and spacious); the service was excellent; and the food delicious. I chose a bacon hamburger, but it was so good, I asked the manager what grade of hamburger it was? She smiled and told me it was steak burger - you can taste the difference. Our waitress, Adrianna, took the time to chat with us, as well as bring our food and drinks, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her, and her detailed attention to our order. I highly recommend you try out the Stagecoach Restaurant - just check their hours first, they’re not yet open full hours all week long; but we will definitely be going back!
