Very clean healthy ingredients, I think they used real butter. I do wish they chopped the tomatoes finer in the tomato salad so that you could get the full flavor of the mixture instead of just chewing large chunks of tomato by itself for half of it. Don’t get the fish tibs, I could have ate 3 of them and still not been full. The injera is nasty 🤢 overall spent $26 and was starving immediately after so come here if you are rich as hell I guess and don’t get the injera whatever you, tastes like wet, dirty and sour mop rag

We enjoy quarterly meetings here to enjoy fresh and delicious traditional Ethiopian and Eritrian food. The staff are always very warm and welcoming and give great recommendations. We recommend the veggie platter and any other meats. My favorite are the slow cooked goat/lamb. Feel good and nourished as you Support your local restaurants .

I’ve been here four times in the last month. This is my second time in 3 days. The family that owns this place and the incredible food makes me want to keep coming back over and over. I get number 5 on the meat menu extra spicy and my wife loves number 5 on the veggie menu. The injera bread is what you use to eat with instead of cutlery. I really enjoy this experience. It’s a slightly sour spongy flat bread. The coffee after is a bold ending to a great meal. The last four times I keep meaning to take a picture of the meal for this review, I keep failing to take the picture before I eat so I decided to just do the review without a picture or I’d never end up reviewing the place. It’s too good to wait to eat for a picture lol.

This was my favorite restaurant for the year I lived in San Antonio. I’ve been gone for a year now and still think about African Village often. I miss it; I was a regular for sure! The food is great and the atmosphere is warm. Gabriel is also a really nice guy.
