You can’t beat Alamo Cafe’s homemade tortillas—whatever Abuela gave them that recipe deserves to be rich off it! The chicken fried steak is a classic and never disappoints. The atmosphere is better at the 281/Bitters location, but being one of the few originals left, this location was still good. (The San Pedro location should never have closed 25+ years ago.)
Shoutout to our waitress Olivia—she was absolutely amazing. So sweet, attentive, and really in tune with what we needed. She made our New Year’s Day experience truly awesome!
And let’s not forget the Shirley Temples—always on point. A longtime favorite for a reason. Love this place

My mom and I went for lunch yesterday. The food came out fast, but was incredibly bland yet overly salty. The beans just tasted like fat and salt. The rice was like a cumin salt bomb. We ordered puffy tacos that were not very puffy, not sure if they were supposed to be soft or crunchy... Like eating raw corn masa. With a dusting of cheese and a smothered helping of iceberg lettuce, they were quite underwhelming. Guacamole is just mashed avocado, no cilantro or pico de gallo flavors were observed. Good server though, he let us get to-go cups for our iced teas. $34 check for two teas and two orders of puffy tacos. Definitely not worth it. Go to a Jalisco and get real Mexican food!

The Alamo Cafe i remember from years ago had excellent food. Today however was not that experience. We had the Loredo Chicken, the sauce was good not excellent, the borracho beans were very watery not thick, the chicken was so dry I had to drink tea after every couple of bites. This being said, our server was top notch which made the rest of the experience very good. Based on the food I will not go back.

I come here often and never have an issue. Except today, I wanted for 10 minutes and not a single person came to help me. The crazy part is the restaurant wasn't even busy. I probably won't come back to this location.
Great food. John S was an awesome server!

We had a great holiday dinner. The place was decently busy for Christmas time, but our server —John, made sure we were taken care of. Thanks Alamo Cafe

Had a christmas party there. They served us fajitas. The cooks must have marinated them in Worcestershire sauce. It was not good. The rice was pitiful, beans were ok. The servers were great!
