If you're looking for a quintessential San Antonio dining experience, Alamo Cafe is a local landmark that delivers exactly what it promises: comfort, flavor, and a warm Texas welcome.

From the moment you walk in, the vibe is pure South Texas hospitality. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, making you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit.

For those who like a bit of a kick, the Fried Jalapeños are a standout. If you want a true taste of everything, the Dinner Combo #1 is the way to go. It’s a classic Tex-Mex plate that hits all the right notes. Between the cheese-smothered enchiladas and the crispy taco, it’s a generous portion that tastes like home cooking.

My husband and I enjoyed a nice lunch on the patio with our dog. Lee was our waiter and he was very nice and attentive, he even brought our dog some water to drink. Food was all delicious and my margarita was one of the best I’ve had in a while.

The tortillas and queso are so yummy. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. My younger boys enjoyed the water feature inside and outside. The place was clean and well kept. Portion sizes were perfect. We ate during the week and were seated right away. The chips are a tad bit harder than I prefer but still really good.

We went here with some friends ! I ordered fajita vegetables and a fish taco. I didn’t really enjoy the fish taco but enjoyed the Fajita vegetables. Service was great. Would come back again.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I was in town for work and met friends for dinner based on their recommendation. The fresh tortillas were great and I appreciated that the salsa actually had some spice to it. I had the street tacos and they were awesome.

Food and service is good. The restaurant has a tendency to echo and amplify loud voices. This makes it hard to have a conversation. This does not stop us from coming here. We love this place, especially their queso.

Green Beef 🌮 Tacos.
Beef has no flavor.
Rice doesn't taste homemade
Queso is boring 😴 no flavor.

Taco Bell is actually better.
Very disappointed

You cooks should make and effort to taste the food....

Came here a few months ago looking for places that served puffy tacos!
Had never been and it was a hit. PT's were pretty darn good.
Came back to celebrate my sister's birthday. All I can say is that this time it was a miss. I'm guessing the chef was having a bad day. Sadly, this time they didn't hit the spot.
I'm certain most have had that experience at least once.
I'm sure I'll be back again, probably order the chicken fried steak when I do.
