A great location to stop by and have a drink, prices were reasonable for the happy hour on the drinks. The food pricing is mid range, but the food was spicy and they didn’t indicate that on a spice level for out of town, tourist.🤭

Great dance spot. Parking was a challenge. Kitchen was closed. Dance floor is very small . I would say 16x30. Drinks we ok but when I got my bill I was charged 30% gratuity? It was me? Over all experience was great

If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience just off the Riverwalk, Azúcar Nuevo Latino is an absolute hidden gem worth discovering.
My partner and I ventured a few streets beyond the usual downtown spots in search of truly good Latin cuisine—and we were beyond rewarded. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere struck a perfect balance of warmth, simplicity, and intention. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels thoughtfully designed for connection, whether you’re on a date night or gathered around the table with family.
The food? Exceptional.
I ordered the red snapper, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It was topped with a vibrant tomato and olive sauce that brought everything together in the most harmonious way. Paired with it was, without exaggeration, the best cilantro rice I’ve ever had. The flavor was clean and distinct, the texture perfectly balanced, and the color subtly infused with cilantro in a way that elevated the entire dish rather than overpowering it.
We also shared an appetizer flight, which turned out to be a highlight of the meal. The shrimp was delicious, but the true standout for me was the fried plantains. I’ve tried plantains prepared in many different ways across various cultures—and never quite liked them—until now. These were perfectly executed: crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, with just the right balance of sweetness and texture. Absolutely unforgettable.
I also tried ceviche for the first time here, and to my surprise, I genuinely enjoyed it. It was fresh, bright, and well-balanced—so much so that I found myself wishing I had paired it with the plantains (though I had already devoured those too quickly!).
My partner enjoyed the pork and beef selections from the flight and was equally impressed, which speaks to the consistency across the menu.
Even the name, “Azúcar Nuevo Latino,” feels fitting—it reflects a fresh, vibrant take on Latin cuisine, full of warmth, richness, and beautifully balanced flavors that come together with intention.
Overall, Azúcar Nuevo Latino delivers not just a meal, but an experience—where flavor, presentation, and atmosphere come together beautifully. This place is a must-visit if you’re in San Antonio and want something authentic, thoughtfully prepared, and truly memorable.
We will absolutely be back.

Valentine’s Day is my hubby’s birthday and we have not been here since they were at their previous location. I am happy to share that he was pleased with my choice, loved his food and the ambiance. Warning, it is a small place and parking can be an issue. I made a reservation and we didn’t have to wait. FYI the Parillada normally has chimichurri sauce on it but I requested it on the side. The dessert presented to us was not on the menu but we were happy with it (the presentation and the taste). Norma our server was an absolute doll. We will definitely be returning and HIGHLY recommend trying if you’ve never been here.

This was our BEST meal in San Antonio. The service and portions were great. Flavors were so good. The atmosphere was quiet. Wish we had one more day to be there for the live music on Fridays.
