Stopped by to pick up some cupcakes and cookies for my son’s birthday. I’m not sure how this bakery gets such high ratings. The sugar cookies were ok, but the monster cookie was bland. Every cupcake was overly dry and flavorless. We tried eight flavors (Elvis, red velvet, strawberry, confetti birthday, salted caramel, lemon, coconut, and Hostess chocolate). Of the eight we tried, the icing on the strawberry cupcake was the most flavorful because it had real strawberries. Definitely overpriced. Save your money and go elsewhere.

This neighborhood bakery is charming and the staff friendly. Unfortunately, having tried both their cupcakes and cake (lemon raspberry with cream cheese icing), the crumb was dry and relied too heavily on the icing.

I decided at the last minute to order cupcakes for my daughters first birthday party at the park! I wanted them to be a hit, not just regular HEB cupcakes because I wasn't doing a smash cake. I got the classic yellow, salted caramel, and another flavor and they were a hit and delicious! They were about $5/cupcake - my dad couldn't understand why I would spend that on a cupcake but I thought it was so worth it because it brought my vision to reality and I think food should always be great at a party. Anyway, I coordinated everything in 1 day via email, the payment process was easy, and they let my friend pick up for me with no issues or confusion at all. Thanks for the memorable experience!

We always get a pumpkin cheesecake for thanksgiving every year. This year it was watery and lumpy? Not sure what happened. We immediately refrigerated as per usual. Very unfortunate. Staff was also rude when picking up the pie they said I had already picked up the pie when I definitely had not. Not sure what’s going on with Bird. Might have to find another place for our annual thanksgiving pies. :( makes me sad for a pie this expensive I expect something we can enjoy.

My 1 star food rating is only for the pastries. We went in for a Saturday night dessert and had high expectations. We were so disappointed. We got a Nutella bread, 2 cupcakes, and banana pudding. The pudding was okay. The cupcakes were about 1/3 frosting and super sweet and dry. The Nutella bread (something like banana bread) was extremely dry, super sweet, and tasted processed. Everything tasted processed, honestly. I was going to go to a Mexican panaderia but chose this place because I wanted something fancier. Should have gone to the panaderia. Would have spent half for better. The pastries had no flavor, really. Just a huge hit of sugar. I was hoping for fresh, moist, upscale pastries- especially considering we paid over $26 for 2 small cupcakes, 1 piece of bread and a banana pudding. I only gave it an overall 3 rating because I have had the sandwiches before and they are good and because the girl who helped us was very attentive and professional.

The service could use significant improvement. Upon entering the shop, it took a noticeable amount of time for the two employees to acknowledge my wife and me. This delay may have been due to it being close to closing time or simply fatigue on their part. Additionally, the cupcakes and Nutella bread were overly sweet and dry, which was disappointing. Overall, the experience was not worth a second visit.

Wow this place has gone downhill. The cupcakes are so dry and bland. And the customer service is the worst. I’m not sure if they have new management or what is going on, but with all the new bakeries popping up in SA, they better get together.

Ordered a mermaid cake for my daughter’s birthday, and it came out beautiful! The kids loved it and all the adults commented on how cute it was. Delicious too! Bird Bakery is definitely my go to for specialty cakes.
