The location is just perfect! You can relax and have a nice view of the Riverwalk. The service is friendly and fast and I really liked the horchata.
The only thing because I’m giving 4 starts is because the food was mid, it’s not the best but it’s not the worst either.
Had lunch today and was very happy with the food and service. Richard K was an outstanding waiter who attended to our table promptly giving us a plesant experience.

Food was just ok. Service was very slow. To be fair we had a big party (37 of us) but they split the group and the table of 15 finished and paid before we had even received our drink order! Also, the flavor of the food was just meh.

We went there for 2 main reasons: vegetarian options and riverfront views and were happy with both.
The server was ok and so was the food - we expected more flavor. The rice was really good. Just FYI, chips and salsa aren't free but they are very reasonably priced.
We ordered the following:
Salsa - fresh
Queso - good
Guac - ok
Veg fajita - decent
Veg Enchiladas - ok
Vegan chalupa - ok, got tostada
Veg nachos - only bean and cheese, got charged extra for adding jalapenos for flavor

Casa Rio was extremely busy when we visited—on Friday evening, right after Christmas, with heavy tourist traffic and schools being out. We were originally waiting for a River Walk boat ride, but the line stretched to the street and would’ve been a 2+ hour wait, so we decided to dine instead.
This was our second visit, and the main reason we chose to come to the River Walk despite knowing it was peak season. Casa Rio quoted an approximately one-hour wait, but we received our text within 35–40 minutes, which was appreciated, given the crowds.
The service was professional and respectful, and the food arrived quickly once we were seated. I had tacos and enjoyed them. The flavors felt closer to the authentic Mexican food we were used to back in California, which has been harder to find locally, and is why we’d return again.

Best restaurant on the river walk, hands down.
The wait was decent on a holiday (~15min). Our server was so kind & prompt - every item came out on a respectable interval, given how busy the restaurant was.
And there was just so much food.
The guac was so fresh. Salsa was so good. Everything was great.
I will definitely come back on my next visit.

Excellent resturant on the riverwalk with a long tradition. Food was excellent and affordable. Wait staff was friendly and attentive despite a large volume of customers.

Sub par Mexican food, need more staff. One waiter for 6 tables of 6+ people. We asked for ketchup for my 9 meat Olds chicken tenders, and it took them 20 minutes to bring it. All adults were done eating by the time the ketchup came! We had to ask 3 times and even went by the kitchen and still no ketchup. Also Never heard of a Mexican restaurant who didnt automatically put chips and salsa on the table! Will not return...
