If you wish to visit, come for the ambiance. Located in a beautiful historical hotel. Primarily a buffet restaurant. I ordered ala carte and the food was mediocre. The grilled chickenon my Cobb salad was over salted and inedible. Staff seemed disinterested in providing service. Not a pleasant experience.

I stopped in early one Sunday morning to look at the old hotel and decided to eat breakfast there. Araceli waited on me and indulged my questions about the history and the hauntings. She was super friendly and helpful. Plus, the huevos rancheros were delicious. If I'm back in San Antonio, I'll definitely be back at the Menger thanks to the great service and tasty breakfast! Thanks!

Great place, only critiques are improve the pancakes - but for a buffet I’d give the food a 9/10.

Had lunch here after our visit to the alamo. We are not hotel guests, but were looking for a quiet place to eat. This place was delicious. Our waiter was very nice and quick. Food was great. Atmosphere was calm, which we needed after a hectic morning with lots of people. Food was delicious. My 13 year old devoured his burger and fries. The fish tacos were surprisingly good as well. There weren't very many people there. I think it is hard to find. Would definitely go again.

Brunch at this place may seem pricey to some people. I think it is worth every penny. Fantastic food. Great service. The coffee is very good as well. I have been here several times and it is a must do if you haven't done it. Superb selection of food choices. You will gain a couple pounds at least. 😂

My waitress Araceli managed to single-handedly make my breakfast experience an absolute delight, she spoke to my husband and I with genuine kindness, the food was surprisingly great for it being continental and overall the atmosphere was wonderful. Very happy I got Araceli and I’ll most definitely be coming back again soon.

World's Best Sunday Brunch Buffet is over rated and certainly not worth the money charged. Ended up sick to my stomach!

For $55 per person, I was really looking forward to an outstanding Sunday Brunch. Like others, I would start by saying the atmosphere / room is charming although a bit "weathered." When we were seated at our table, the chairs were visibly dirty. As we sat down (after brushing them off) a waiter came over and asked for our beverage order, then disappeared for an inordinate amount of time, so we chatted up a lovely waitress who then took over for him.

The buffet selections, while adequate, were certainly not extraordinary. The "carving station" had one selection: well done prime rib, which was dry and tasteless. The omelet station was better, but had minimal options (spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, green onions, ham, bacon, cheese..period), and nothing exceptional. The waffles were cold and rubbery.

The Salad station had two options: spring mix or spinach with strawberries, feta and walnuts (best thing in the whole selection). There was some cutup fresh melon, a crab salad, some shrimp and a few cheeses along with two soups. No smoked salmon, rolls, bread choices, sweet rolls or anything you would expect at this level.

The hot station was somewhat pathetic, with VERY fish smelling dry salmon filets (I'm betting frozen), an unidentifiable chicken something, rice and mashed potatoes. ICH. There was also bacon and burnt sausages.

The highlight was the dessert section, with an outstanding key-lime tartlet, and very good bread pudding, plus some obviously corporate baked cakes and obligatory chocolate chip cookies ala Otto Spunkmeyer. DoubleTree makes better. So, we ordered what they are allegedly famous for, a supposedly fresh made Mango Ice Cream. I would opine that the only real fresh Mango was the small amount of topping, and the ice cream itself had such a pasty after taste on the palate that NONE in our party would eat it. We suggested the waitress taste it, and she refused.

The only saving grace for us was the fact that it wasn't Mother's Day, and we didn't pay $85 for this pathetic representation of an elaborate Brunch. Although we are local, and try to support local institutions, we will NOT return.

Excellent service, Ramiro was very attentive. The food itself was a little hit or miss. Bacon, eggs, and potatoes were better than any continental breakfast you've ever had to choke down and some of the fruit was very good. The pancakes were hard and some fruit was very out of season, they should get better supplies for that. Still its a lovely place for Sunday breakfast and I wish they had a cheaper option for just coffe and a light breakfast. Maybe they did, but it wasn't offered.
