Comfort Cafe San Antonio

We went to visit our daughter who is in military training and she said we had to go. Her and her army family go frequently. The food was absolutely amazing! We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. I got the special-carrot cake pancakes and egg flights. Let me tell you, when I say absolutely delicious! Everything was so good and came out in a timely manner. The staff were excellent as well! 100% recommend!

Everyone in our group had great food except me. I ordered Swedish crepes for breakfast, they brought me a plate with a pile of crepes with a lemon slice and some powdered sugar sprinkled. The crepes were presented in a messy pile on the plate. They were not laid flat, or rolled up, the plate literally looked like they had been plopped onto the plate with no thought. The only lemon flavor was from the lemon slice I squeezed onto them and had to add Maple syrup for a hint of sweetness.

Everyone else at out table had dishes that were well plated and presented like the kitchen staff cared.

Ambiance - the area is absolutely beautiful and serine. We sat outside to eat and it was very comfortable. The waiting area had games and the outdoor area had games which kept the kids occupied.
Service- we did not reserve a table so the wait time was long but we were checked on constantly and brought refreshments and even an extra meal. Patrick was our server and honestly I wish we could have tipped even more because he was incredibly courteous to us and apologetic due to the wait. He went above and beyond for us and we were so happy to have him serving us. Such a Great guy.
Food- no words, everything was amazing. And my kids pancakes were so good! Without syrup the flavor was so good full vanilla cake flavor. My omelette was huge and packed full of flavor.
We will definitely return (just reserve a table in advance) this place is great. What they stand for makes it even more desirable.
In addition to the food the coffee is some of the best we’ve had. The chai cappuccino and lattes are a win.

Kid-friendliness: There are games in the waiting area and outdoor dining area games. Very kid friendly

Couldn’t even get a table. The wait was 1.5 hours when Google wait time said less busy than usual. The parking lot was terrible. Full parking and around trees not normal parking lot with stripes.

Usually I go to the Bandera location and have never really had a problem. I love supporting the cause and the food is always delicious. However last weekend I came to this location with my boyfriend and we took his friend from out of town and had our worst experience ever. We waited an extra 30 mins after our estimated wait time came (I had already had us on the waitlist for about 2 hours). After our order was taken we sat there for AN HOUR AND A HALF before our food came out. Three LARGER GROUPS of people that were sat wayyy after us ended up getting their food before us. One group even ate their food, finished and left and we still hadn’t gotten our food yet. The place had dwindled down so much at this point too. We didn’t even have complicated orders. All breakfast food, omelet, some bacon, french toast…all quick to cook food. Our server didnt come back once in this over an hour wait to even fill our drinks. I get that this is a volunteer based program but y’all are still offering a service at the end of the day and Im still paying. From the extra 30 mins of wait time to the time we actually finished eating our food we were there for almost 3 hours which is just ridiculous.

Food was ok, I got the crab cakes and took a single bite and couldn’t finish it due to it being really fishy. Thankfully, my table ordered pancakes to share and when I say these were the best pancakes— I truly mean it. Services are as decent, they’re trying to keep up with several tables so I get it. I’d probably only come back if I’m craving pancakes if I’m being honest. The establishment itself though has a really amazing mission though, one that’s worth recognizing.

WOW! is the Only way to describe this place. First, the building and park surroundings are Beautiful. The interior is AMAZING! The service and food was to die for! And the service was the BEST I have EVER had! On top of all of that, what this place is all about sets the bar so much higher than anywhere else. This is a MUST do!

Really good food, disorganized and somewhat rude waitstaff. Never refilled our drinks, didn’t bring napkins to the table. Probably won’t return.
