Great place for a burger and just some old time feels!!
Small Cafe with dam Good food with generous portions, Treat yourself and get the onion rings, you won't regret it!!!!!!
Waitress was just too distracted.
Brought us our food cold, we sent it back to heat up, that took along time also!
Great food try the chicken fried steak tender and also the onion rings
I have eaten at Tip Top since the early 70s with family and friends. The chicken fried steak is my pick for the best in San Antonio. The same applies to their French fries, gravy, onion rings, cornbread, hamburgers, and iced tea.
I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! I had heard about it from TV and loved the atmosphere. It was like stepping into the past. There was a jukebox box and a lot of memorabilia. The food was amazing! I could have filled up on their cornbread and B Mac n cheese alone. I leaned that everything is made fresh that nothing is precooked. I met the lady who made the cornbread and she is so sweet and gave great recommendations and service. The restaurant manager was also very sweet and told us more about the restaurant and was very kind to her customers and staff. Definitely come try this cafe out. I’m going to be coming back and bringing more people!
Great food!
Cutlet was delicious. Definitely a plate that can be shared.
Onion rings 1/2 order was too much for us to handle.
We will return.
Nice OleCountry setting.
I couldn’t ask for better music to be playing.
Thank you all.
Keep up the great work!!!.
The gravy for the chicken fried steak is watered down and it tastes like powder. It was absolutely disgusting.
Great service. Delicious Fried Cat fish , crispy onion rings, and the best Fried steak!!!

Generations of my family have been eating here as long as they have been open. My great-grandparents used to eat here.
I’m sad to say that it just isn’t good anymore. The chicken fried steak looked great but had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. No salt, no pepper, nothing. It was like chewing on texture. It did not taste like anything. Nowhere near enough gravy for a chicken fried steak of the size that is served.
The mashed potatoes were just mashed whole Idaho potato. Skin on. Again…..noooooo seasoning. No cream, no butter, no salt, no pepper. No matter how much salt and pepper we added to the steak and the mashed potatoes, it did not help.
Sadly, I think my 9 yo will be the last generation of our family to eat here. Such a loss.
This place has great food. The place itself is a worn and dated - that's part of the charm. The chicken fried steak was delicious.
Had chicken fried steak and onion rings. Everything was literally flavorless, not even a sprinkle of salt. The chicken fried steak was 90% batter. Everything just tasted like plain fried flour. I should’ve known better when everything was buy one get one free.
Not the same food quality ☹️. Meatloaf was terrible. So were their famous onion rings.
Best pie in San Antonio and CFS is a personal favorite
