If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with some serious flavor, Dignowity Meats is a great restaurant to try out. This locally owned gem, featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," serves up a menu that’s sure to satisfy any meat lover.
My go to order is usually the Burnt End Melt sandwich, a glorious creation that combines tender brisket, macaroni and cheese, and sweet sliced pears all nestled on a toasted ciabatta bun. The flavor combination is savory with a hint of sweet from the pears that keeps me coming back for more.
However, on my latest visit, I was hit with the dreaded news: they were out of both the Burnt End Melt sandwiches and the macaroni and cheese. I was sad, but used it as an opportunity to try something else on their menu.
In a pinch, I opted for a bbq baked potato, which typically comes topped with that delightful mac and cheese. The bbq baked potato was tasty, but it just couldn’t hold a candle to my favorite
sandwich. Lesson learned: get there early before they run out!
The ordering process is casual—just walk up to the counter outside or head inside during the evening. The outdoor seating is equipped with picnic tables and fans, making it a comfortable spot, even on hot days.
Overall, Dignowity Meats is a must-visit. With a diverse menu and a chill vibe, it’s hard to go wrong. Just remember to arrive early to snag your favorites!

Ordered the Reuben. It comes with Onions and mustard. I asked to exclude the onions (being that I was at work and couldn’t brush after) and I asked for mustard on the side. In case I didn’t like the mustard. Lady said they don’t give out on the side. Either on on off. So I asked for it off. After receiving my order. I asked again if they can give me any type of sauce on the side. Ex bbq sauce or mustard. She said they do not do this. I replied that it was weird that I couldn’t get a small portion of sauce. I went back to my table and told another employee I was with. They went on my behalf and refused to leave counter until we got a side of sauce. They finally gave in and added some bbq sauce to a boat for us. This Ruben was dry AF. But got better with the sauce. I think it’s ridiculous that they couldn’t plse the customer from the beginning. I ordered a side of Mac and cheese which was basic and not worth buying. I ate it all because I hate wasting food.
I do food reviews but decided this place wasn’t worth my video editing time. Rude lady who gave me shit about sauce on the side. Yeah yall would have gotten the worst food review I’ve done to date. But decided not to waste my time. Yall gotta do better. Very disappointed
The Ruben was a 4.5. As I’m sure the mustard and onions would have taken it to another level. But I had my reason why I excluded it. The Mac and cheese were a 3.5 at best. Never again will I waste my time coming here. Words of advice. Do better!!
Not worth my $18 spent

The food was delicious and I’ll definitely be back for more. This is the definition of a hole in the wall. It is no frills outdoor seating. The food takes time to arrive so if you’re in a hurry, be patient. The wait is worth it.

This is not your typical BBQ joint. I don't know what makes it so awesome, but the meat, sauce and everything is PERFECT!

We had this trip planned for almost a year. The week before we left we caught this place on diners drive-ins and dives. We tried the burnt end melt and it is hands down the best sandwich we have ever had!!
We stopped by for dinner before a Spurs game. You order at the window, then relax on their spacious covered patio. The staff at the window was friendly. The menu looked really creative, so I was excited to give it a try. We ordered the burnt end melt, but unfortunately, the sauce overpowered the smoky meat, and the macaroni on the sandwich was pretty dry. We also tried The Pop, but it was just okay overall. They have a solid variety of beer options.

Just not at all impressed.
I see all the awesome pics and crazy sandwiches and fancy Mac and cheese, so figured I’ll try this as my first TX BBQ.
Pit beef sandwich not sold here anymore despite being on the signs, the web and the menu and the entire reason I came here…
Discontinued.
So I order the burnt ends sandwich, sold out.
Asked about a few others…all sold out.
It’s 6pm, dinner time and there’s two other people here and nobody else around…where’s the food?
Ordered the Reuben, they have it, I get to order it.
They come back and let me know they are out of onions so no onions on the sandwich…ok fine.
Ordered burnt end Mac and cheese as the side.
Food came quickly. I like trying BBQ sauce at different places, so I ask for a side of BBQ sauce and the person says it’s already in the food and shuts the food window.
The Mac and cheese was Mac and cheese, nothing resembling meat in it. It was OK, no BBQ sauce, no burnt ends.
The Reuben was good, no complaints…had what seemed to be BBQ sauce in it so I got to sample some I think.
All in all, the “experience” was pretty lacking. The selection annoyed me, the Mac and cheese was misleading. The service was borderline rude. The Reuben was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, not sure what all the fuss is about.

Taps not working and said order would take over 30 minutes even though no one here at 6pm on a Monday. Probably won’t drive over here again to the ghetto

This was a nice place with good food. I happened to be the only one there and attracted all the flies. I would have stayed longer but I ended up eating in my car because of that.

The sandwich served on Texas Toast is literally not toasted. I've never had untoasted Texas Toast and never will again. The sandwich itself is incredibly sweet in every bite. No taste of seasoning or smokey BBQ flavor, just sweet meat. The macaroni and corn were good and fresh. But the sandwich was a dessert for me. Luckily, I was able to cut the sweetness with whole milk. I will return for the night menu and try something without the BBQ sauce.
