Very cool atmosphere all around. Went during an Art street fair and all the colors, sounds, people, and good vibes made this a great spot to be at. 10/10 would definitely go back again. Maybe have a poetry event there at some point.

Great ambiance, great food, and great service (considering there was only one waitress). I would have rated this place 5 stars however, due to the lack of staffing it took awhile for my order to be placed and be brought out.

Had passed by this place a few times and my hubby really wanted to try it. So we finally made a stop. No one greeted us, finally we sat, place was not busy, maybe three other tableS. Food took so long to come out, food was mediocre at best. We ordered dumplings- ehh ok. I ordered Yakisoba with Chicken, I had the smallest chunks of chicken maybe 5 total with lots of sauce. And my husband ordered Ramen his Pork was all fat and broth was bland for Ramen. $48 for Ramen and Yakisoba, no thanks will not recommend or come back again- guess it doesn't matter since they are closing up shop.

Hate that I'm leaving this review because I LOVE the ramen so much, but the service here is terrible. The last 2 times we came, we waited much longer than necessary for our food - the last time, I believe we waited an hour for just 2 people. My order was also wrong, missing the soft boiled egg and mushrooms that COME in the miso ramen - it wasn't like I ordered any extras. Then, we just tried to visit around 5:30, and the door was locked with no one there. It's Wednesday. They open at 5. No one there - no explanation. We waited by the door a few minutes for someone to come in case they just forgot to unlock the door, but no one did. I'm now typing this en route to the Kimura on Pecan St. It's further from my house, but I'm tired of the poor service here.

I heard that this was the spot for the best ramen in San Antonio so I got super hyped when we decide for dinner this was the choice. Friday night we came to Kimura at Freight. They have extra parking in the back that can accommodate a lot of cars. Interior is pretty modernized and felt more like a cafe. We sat ourselves down because there was no one to greet us. Shortly, one of the waitresses came to get our drink order and gave us water. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with added pork belly (extra $5). My fiancé got the yakisoba with chicken and an order of yakitori as an appetizer. It took 35 minutes for the yakitori to come out and it wasn't super busy. The yakitori was probably being waited for someone to take it to us because it was flat out cold. Then the yakisoba came out and I was just which had a lot of liquid. Yakisoba is supposed to be cooked with the sauce drying and carmelizing with the noodles. Then the waitress came around and said,"I forgot about your food!" Finally I got my ramen! It had an unusual amount of foam/bubbles on my soup and tasted like it wasn't just pork broth. Thinking they may have added milk to thicken it up. I do say the pork belly does melt in your mouth, but the broth was a total downer. I don't think I'll try this place out again. Service and food wasn't great at all.

I was so disappointed in the food here. I came in expecting authentic Japanese food and ended up with what I would describe as clumsy Asian fusion. We ordered the Gyoza, which has a heavy five-spice flavor that missed the delicate flavor Japanese guise normally have. The okonomiyaki was heavy and filled with burnt mystery bits and was topped with two strange sauces, both nothing like traditional accompaniments. The ramen came and also carried the strange five-spice flavor. My husband ordered Katy's but the waitress came out and said the chef was not comfortable serving that dish. I gave two stars because I think if this restaurant was marketed differently, maybe it would not have been so off putting. That being said, even if I knew this was fusion, I would still not recommend a visit here.
