For someone who has a gluten allergy, fried chicken like this is truly a treat. First, everyone we spoke to was very friendly and met us with a smile! It was a busy Saturday, so I ordered ahead using Toast, and I'm so glad I did because that line was long! For good reason too! I flipping loved this chicken. Loved it. Need it. Almost came back the next day to get it again. MONSTER pieces of chicken for the tenders. MONSTER. Chunky, plumpy, crispy seasoned flour on the outside, but not heavily breaded. I loved, loved, loved the seasoning. While I ate, I felt like I was sitting at the kitchen table at home with a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, eating fried chicken and laughing with the fam. Dip that clucker in some spicy ranch and call it a day! We also got the 3 pieces fired chicken meal, and y'all. Y'ALL. I just wanted to gnaw on that chicken thigh like a cavewoman. I could have. Maybe I did at one point. No sauce needed, but I did dip into that spicy ranch again. I just loved how the seasoning got into all those nooks and crannies, and I could feel the love in it. For sides, my kiddo and hubby got the Mac and Cheese and fries. I loved the shape of the fries, but I wish they weren't as thick so they could get a little more crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. Hubby wished the Mac and Cheese had a thicker cheese sauce, but kiddo really enjoyed it! Hubby also said that, while he doesn't have a gluten allergy, he can see how this chicken would be special for someone with a gluten allergy. Even not having a gluten allergy, he thought the chicken was great too! Put it all together, and we will definitely be back! Thank you, Freight Chicken!

We really wanted this to be a 5-star review...I mean, we really did, but it honestly didn't live up to the hype! -Fried chicken was just meh!!! They only serve dark meat (my fav) however, I was served 1 thigh & 2 legs...come on, man! So, I went back to swap a leg for a thigh & he just gave me another thigh-which was a pleasant surprise. -The potato wedges were the hit for me-seasoned well & the batter was very light, but crispy -Tenders was just alright...not really rememberable. -The Mac & Cheese was a letdown, because if you call yourself a "Southern" restaurant, I feel like it should be baked. Also, be advised that the way is lengthy plus VERY limited seating inside...we were forced to eat outside.

This was my first time to purchase food from here. I just got some fries for my son. And OMG!!! Best fries ever!!!! Great portion, super crispy outside and soft inside. Those 4 gentlemen who work there are lovely friendly happy people! Will definitely try more food next time! Highly recommend!!!

TINY bits of sauces and sides for the family meals. Gonna have to do a 1 on general principle. Missing sauces, tiny sides, etc.. WOULD NOT GO BACK. EVERHonestly I would avoid this restaurant all together. Bad vibes all around. WHY WOULD YOU EVER SERVE A FAMILY MEAL AND GIVE ME HALF OF A TOTAL CORN COB. This is a sign of a newbie owner. They will get weeded out if they can’t maintain. Unfortunately I will never go backEdit, noticed our corn wasn’t even fried like advertised. UTTER FAILURE.

Orlando ..

So, the staff seemed unknowledgeable of what gluten actually is, took my wife who has celiac and was excited to try, only to be told just the chicken is gluten free? So why have gluten free chicken if the buns, fries, and all sides are not gluten free?? Why promote if it's not all gluten free?

Beyond disappointing!!! Made a special trip out here and paid for parking all to be told nothing on the entire menu is gluten free other than the chicken. No available sides or sauces so literally no point in eating there.

Was excited to try this new fried chicken location, but customer service from the beginning was not happy. Man taking order was downbeat and aggressive. Fried chicken at 3 pieces for $17 wasn’t crispy. Sides were okay. Tumble22 in Austin still my favorite.

I saw this restaurant advertised on Elder Eats on Instagram and I decided to give it a try. I had the 3 piece Fried Chicken, Loaded Potato Salad and Fried Corn. The Fried Chicken was okay but it lacked flavor and was lightly seasoned. It was nothing spectacular about the taste, if you are desiring good Soul Food go to Mr. C's Chicken and Waffles. The Loaded Potato Salad was really good and it had shredded cheese and bacon bits in it, I've never tasted Potato Salad but it tasted really good. The Fried Corn was really good and flavorful. I chose Ranch as my sauce but it tasted nasty to me and it tasted too strong. The owner of the Jerk Shack here in San Antonio is the owner here and the food there is lacking also. Overall, the food was good, but the chicken needs more flavor.

Heard about the hype on Instagram and TikTok, and had to check it out myself.Self proclaimed chicken sandwhich connoisseur here. Overall this was a lackluster sandwich for the price. Meat is dry and bland, unless you pay $1 extra for “spicy” which is just tossed in chipotle laden vegetable oil. No cheese, no mayonnaise, and nothing to help this dry chicken. Feel a little bit better as you chew through it. The spicy ranch sauce was fantastic however the honey barbecue sauce is clearly sweet baby rays that they put into a small side. I have suspicion that the honey mustard is also sweet baby rays.Overall would not recommend this restaurant, especially for the price. You would be better off with the chicken sandwich from southerleigh next-door or from Pete’s hot chicken truck at Besame, a short walk from the pearl. As a sidenote, the staff was fantastic and very helpful.

I think I went on an off day. The chicken tho juicy was too greasy, I didn't like the Mac n cheese, I'd go back for the biscuit. The atmosphere was great.

Great fried chicken and it's gluten free. Cole slaw was good as well. It's part of a shopping center in the Pearl. Nice to take it to go outside if the weather is nice.

I was excited to try their chicken tenders but was met with disappointingly dry chicken tenders. But their Mac n cheese was good.
