This is a little hole in the wall restaurant on the south side the parking can be a bit tricky but don’t let that stop you from trying this place out. My husband and I went for lunch service was friendly and fast. The food was incredible. Clearly made to order. We tried the gorditas andSopes. Everything was fresh and authentic. The cafe de olla was delicious and rich in flavor and for $3 you just can’t beat that price. We will definitely be going back with our kids. Highly recommended.

This is my first time going to this restaurant and the experience was similar to eating in a Mexican restaurant. There was a guy flagging you in to park (parking is a little tight and you cant park in the laundry business) another guy was opening the door for you. You can dine in and order in this location. The food was full of flavor and textures were good. The experience was genuine just like visiting the local spots in mexico, there was even the vendor selling peanuts and empanadas stopping by. I came over with very low expectations and now have a new place to go to.

Today, 2/25/24 I went and ordered 4 sopes (papa roja, picadillo, asado, and chicharron) and 1 Jamaica drink to-go. They asked me if I wanted the drink while I waited and I said yes; I walked outside with the rest of the people waiting. During my first sip of Jamaica I started chocking--I was probably chocking for about 5 minutes. NOBODY reached out to help and while I was chocking I dropped my drink, the cup broke, and the Jamaica went everywhere (my shirt, shoes, and the ground). I wasn't gonna ask for another drink bc it was my fault and I was a little embarrassed. But when I was called for my order and drove all the way home, I found that they gave me a rajas sope instead of papa roja and the picadillo sope has 2 hairs. I drove back--for the inconvinience and hopefully their kindness, I asked if they could replace my drink. They told me it was none of their business that I had dropped the drink and that they were only gonna take care of the sopes. I was kind of thrown off because I was being very respectful and had literally chocked on THEIR drink outside of their door. I guess word had got around about what had happened outside when I chocked bc the kitchen staff started talking about "oh that was the girl..." and one of the kitchen workers asked a server to get me the drink. That's when the owner walked in and told me that it wasn't their business that I dropped my drink. I had accepted it and tell her that that's disappointing because it was my favorite restaurant and they couldn't do a simple nice thing for their customer, especially after chocking for so long, with no help, at the property... she was clearly annoyed (without even knowing the context) and cut me off before finishing my sentence, told a server to hand me the drink (with an attitude), and walked off. That lady had been there for the day for maybe 5 mins and she was already in the defense mode. I understand some customers are rude but I was being respectful. At the end of the day, they didn't have to give me a drink, I know, but it was something nice to do for another human who had an incident. The fact that the owner was so rude and told me it wasn't just the drink she was going to have to give me but also the *cup, straw, and lid* even though I had to drive back bc they got my order wrong, is not good customer service. To MAKE THINGS WORSE, when I got home with the second order, it was still WRONG. I changed the picadillo into asado because of the hair but was still looking forward to the papa roja...which they got wrong AGAIN and gave me pork??? I didn't even call or drive back at that point... just very disappointed because it was my fav restaurant in SA and I took my family and college friends they they visit me from North Texas. </3 Also, my friend works for MySA newspaper doing food reviews around the city... be nice to everyone in general but also, you don't know who you will encounter...I want to add: the kitchen and serving staff are great

This place is authentic, very delicious gorditas. I had the bean and cheese and picadillo. The place is small, so on a busy day/weekend, it gets packed. Also, the parking lot is small. Good hot sauces to go with the gorditas.

This place is underrated, the gorditas and sopes taste authentic and made with love! You cannot go wrong here. Also, the café de Olla is the best I've had since going to mexico. The service is always great the waitresses are always friendly!

They don't make them fresh, they are frozen, no tea, just can or bottle sodas! They only have 5 car spaces, and they take over washetiria space, not handicap accessible! The staff don't speak English, filthy doors, high steps to go in. Not a good place, food taste is flat!

As of right now, there are two locations of Gorditas Mi Torreón and this is easily the better of the two. It is a little divey, popular with locals, and incredibly tasty. In other words, this is my kind of place. It's not a large place and parking can be tricky when the place is packed, which is the often the case on the weekends. There are handful of group tables throughout the place, which can probably max out at 40-50 folks at any given time. They've done a good job of maximizing the layout and the bathrooms are clean. My initial experience here was a foodgasm so intense that I won't soon forget it. Their gorditas ($3.75) are the real deal and I loved eating all of them so much that I still long for them today. The sopes ($4.25) are also excellent, but what it really boils down to are the fillings: Chicharrón (prensado y cuero): Both are buttery smooth. Rajas con queso: A classic. Perfect for veggie palates. Picadillo: Ground beef perfection. Asado: A little smokey, but riquísimo overall. Papas rojas / verdes: Both are excellent and both have a slight kick. Perfect for veggie palates. Frijoles con queso: Classic. Easy. Delicious. Tinga: Shredded chicken meat with the right amount of salsa is heavenly. Carne con chile (res y puerco): One has to really like picante but this is fire. Deshebrada: A stewed and shredded meat of awesomeness. Requesón: The cheesiest of the bunch, which is fresh and somewhat similar to ricotta. Easily one of my favorites. Mole: Always wonderful, velvety, and incredibly satisfying. Choriqueso: A little cheese and a lot of chorizo, which makes for an ideal desayuno style sandwich. Nopales con carne / puerco: I like nopales, but this is probably my least favorite of the bunch. Huevo en salsa verde / roja: Another perfect breakfast combo. If you're doing takeout, I would recommend calling ahead of time and be prepared to speak Spanish. The nearly all-female staff are sweet and constantly busy. Beware of parking next door at the market, since there are towing signs everywhere. At the end of the day, I am always excited to come here. It's gotten to a point where if I'm going to be passing through San Antonio, I'll make sure to stop by here to get my fix. I think anyone who is a fan of Mexican cuisine, especially gordita enthusiasts, owe themselves a visit one of the better options in the city.
