I was expecting more. Beautiful restaurant, I really liked the setting. Our waiter was top notch, very attentive and informative. Enchiladas were bland. Unseasoned beef in plain corn tortilla with cheese and chili sauce. Rice and beans were ok. Best thing was the flan, very good. I'll be back to try other items on the menu.

I am so sorry for the tragic fire. I hope you and all of the employees of this great San Antonio institution will be well and that God will provide. Of course we have great hopes that Jacala will soon return. Blessings and so many thank yous for your great food and friendly service over the years. Jacala has been such a part of our family since we started going there in 1978. Many blessings and comfort for y'all.

The funny thing is I haven't been to this restaurant in like 3 years. I live in Houston Texas but my cousin who lives in San Antonio took the wife and i there we and really loved it. Every time we have time to stop off and eat their San Antonio we do. I wish there was one in Houston there's nothing better than a traditional mom and pop Tex Mex restaurant. Anyway my buddy is going to San Antonio for a wedding today and I suggested that he and his wife stop by and I have a great early dinner. I can't wait to go back there and get some do that down good Mexican plate and a nice Frozen creamy margarita.

Overcrowded. Loud. INTOXICATED people. Falling off chairs. Obnoxious cussing. Cold, old, and hard flour tortillas. Chili con queso dip was watery cold soup. Restroom trash cans overflowing with toilet paper of blood and feces. Kids running everywhere, under tables, in walk areas, throwing water everywhere in restroom. Floors had dirty paper and food under tables. Waited 1 hour for 2 simple plates. No Covid precautions concerning space between patrons. Turquoise taco chain atmosphere. Sad to see a once quiet, classy, place, now become a dive. Very sad. Never returning. LA FOGATA is getting our business from now on. Even Mi Tierra at Market Square knows how to deal with loud Obnoxious patrons and running everywhere screaming children. They don't allow it.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday. We got invited by family and our party was over 20+. As far as the food goes it was just okay. The issue that we had was with the waitress. From the moment that we arrived she had a huge attitude. There was not enough tables for us to fit and instead of the staff helping us rearrange the tables to have more seating, my father in law and brother in law did it themselves. The waitress blatantly says to us, well it's only supposed to be a party of 20. So because she was annoyed that our party was more than expected she treated us as if we did not even exist. She never took our drink order, she never even took our order. My father in law had to go find someone who would take our order. Finally, another gentleman came out of now where and he started hustling to get us everything that we needed. The female waitress was visibly so upset and in front of everyone, she started arguing with the other waiter that came to help her. She was so rude and she even started saying out loud that she was just going to walk out on our party and leave. She was so upset and unprofessional to our party and made us feel uncomfortable. Some of our party even got up and left because of the way she was acting towards us. She completely ruined a family gathering that was meant to be a celebration all because she was upset. I understand that our party was a lot but as a waitress you should not take it out on the customers. She spent more time complaining about her situation then trying to hustle to get us what we needed. She was yelling at everyone and never once apologized for her behavior. To the male waiter that came to take our order, thank you for your kind customer service and helped us when we were being ignored. This restaurant has a huge party room so it's not as if they never get large party's. I partially blame the restaurant as well for not properly giving her the help that she needed. But, this still does not excuse the waitress's behavior toward us.

A San Antonio classic that I try to go to a few times a year. They were able to accommodate our family in a timely manner. Service was great, and after ordering, the food arrived in a good amount of time. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Went with a reserved party. The wait staff took over an hour to take our order. We waited another hour for our food. We did not get refills on our drinks for over 45 minutes. When asked about our food, we were told that it was given to another table. No one came to apologize or update us on the status of our food. For those who did get their food, they described the rice as hard and were not impressed with the meal. We walked out without any food. I will NEVER go to this establishment again!!

All wrapped up, warm, and looking delicious on this lazy Sunday Established in 1949, this local legend titles itself as the oldest originally owned family Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. Did you know that? I sure didn't. But after eating here, I see how they've stuck around this long I went with the mixed fajitas (chicken & beef) and wifey got the puffy tacos, along with a couple Margaritas and a side of Queso. Kids got their Bacon & Egg tacos as usual. Everything was yummy but I'll def go back to sit and eat so I can experience everything fresh and crispy. They did have THE best tortillas that made my fajitas plate that much better Give them a shot some time soon. And when you do, let them know Angel Food Dude sent you

Everything ordered was delicious! Haven’t been in a few months so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was craving plain cheese nachos with jalapeños, they were amazing! Yes, simple, but the chips were toasty and crispy with loads of cheese. Yum!! Puffy tacos were delicious also, as always the jacalitos never disappoint.

The wait staff was engaging with the clientele and made it an enjoyable experience. Restaurant needs to be updated outside a bit and advertised better. We just happened to drive by it and only remembered it from a previous dinner there. Most people would drive by given the vibes the exterior gives off.
