I went to Jim’s to pick up tortilla soup To Go because I wasn’t feeling well and felt like I was coming down with a cold. Jim’s has always been my go to in Austin, and although I’d seen some recent concerning reviews, I decided to trust the location and avoid driving farther while sick.

When I picked up my order, I checked it in my car and realized it was mostly just broth. I wasn’t given a spoon, so I used my fingers to taste it, it was my soup anyway. Since it wasn’t what I expected, I went back inside to request a refund.

What happened next genuinely shocked me. The gentleman at the counter (I’m not sure if he was a manager; he was wearing a Vivid jacket) took the soup from me, visibly upset, and then handed it directly to another guest. I was stunned and honestly at a loss for words. I even tried to find the guest to tell him I had touched the soup and that I was sick, but I wasn’t able to locate him.

I’m writing this review because this was not just disappointing, it was extremely unsanitary. If this happened so casually, I can’t imagine this was the first time. Between my experience and the recent reviews, I strongly encourage others to take these concerns seriously.

This Jim's is a sorry excuse for a restaurant. A couple of friends of mine & me went there to eat. The waiter, dressed in a Christmas coat took a while to come to our table. Then we ordered ice tea. We had water delivered to us instead. After our food arrived, the waiter didn't return not once to check to see if we needed anything. It was so frusterating. Then the waiter tried to charge us for the ice teas, even though we never got it delivered to us. Whats really sad was there were only about 8 customers in the whole restaurant at the time. Not busy at all. What a huge failure this restaurant was. Id recommend everyone go next door to Cracker barrel instead. The food will be better and the customer service will definitely be much better than Jim's.

Manager at this location was very kind and gracious about options for an out of stock desert and it made my evening. Jim’s has always been a great bet for comfort food.

Was just here with my family for Thanksgiving we sat for 30 minutes while 3 waitresses walked by us and didn’t say anything I asked for a high chair for my daughter nobody brought it. Meanwhile, the short waitress with curly hair and a taller waitress with dark hair are literally arguing with each other in front of the whole restaurant about their sections. As I go up to the front to let a manager know they are STILL arguing and going back in forth while other tables are just sitting and waiting as well. The manager was apologetic but at that point we just wanted to leave because neither of them deserved a tip and we ALWAYS tip well. Especially on a holiday.

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. Gave me half a bowl of soup that was cold told me that they weren’t making biscuits because the cooks were being lazy and that’s on top of waiting 10+ minutes for drinks and about 30 for cold food with terrible portions. I love coming into town for Jim’s and this sucked. My soul was cold and I could t even order biscuits and gravy lol. Our server was nice and I felt bad seeing her run around trying to handle what seems like horrible management.

I know Jim’s has had a hard time after Covid but they were my go to restaurant prior. I also know that some of their restaurants fell into disarray. I have returned to Jim’s more recently and they are mostly as I remember them. It’s a little nostalgic for me and I plan on visiting more often. Love their burgers.

11 am Breakfast was good but not great. Tortillas not as good as usual. Chopped steak was very good. The restaurant as a whole was quite rundown. Smell wasnot great. Ceiling tiles stained and vents and metal brackets rusty. Come on Hasslocher family.
