Wow! We were down the street and stopped in for lunch. Can't believe how good it was. I got a country fried steak with steak fries and the steak was so tender with such a crispy breading. The cream gravy was excellent. But my husband won the meal with the chopped sirloin with brown gravy. My gosh, it was fantastic. So juicy. And when he was done, he let me use the gravy to dip my fries. Absolutely delicious!

My friends took me here for dinner and I had a fantastic meal. I enjoyed the casual ambiance. Our server was a lot of fun and very quick. My steak was excellent.

I have been going to the Little Red Barn (TLRBS) since the late 70's. I went with my father, an Air Force Navigator. This place was a favorite for flight crews coming into the Bases in San Antonio. I am old enough to have seen so many landmarks in Texas make major changes or close down. TLRBS has made some minor remodels and additions, but is still basically the same place I walked into 50 years ago. I live East of Austin, where the Hill Country meets the Coastal Plains. We travel through San Antonio several times a year. If TLRBS is open, I stop there. For me the food and service is great, but the memories of family, friends, and good times is almost more important. As the old in Texas dies and the new is built where icons once stood, TLRBS is still Standing Tall. For a taste of Texas history, visit TLRBS. Long Live The Little Red Barn!!

Don't be fooled by good looking pictures....It's been years since I've been here, and I remember why. I really don't like leaving negative remarks, but I took my mom and stepfather there for their bday's. Fortunately for them they said they enjoyed their streaks and said they were tender and tasty. Me on the other hand based on my last experience decided to go with the fried chicken breast, figuring I couldn't go wrong......well if you like 100% FLAVORLESS chicken then I'd recommend ordering this plate. The plate looked good in appearance, but it was missing the biggest part, flavor. Thinking the gravy would solve that problem I smothered it in gravy and that too had just as much flavor as the chicken, NONE. I had to add Tabasco sauce to get any flavor. I know this establishment is a staple of the city going back many many years and I really enjoy supporting local restaurants, however if they're going to charge more than chain food places for sub par products I'll definitely avoid this location as I work hard for my money and to spend $20+/person for FLAVORLESS food, I'll pass on returning. My son ordered the chicken strip basket and he thought it was a filet of fish, but like mine he said his had no flavor, so he had to drench his in ranch so he'd eat it. There is "table service" but they just leave pitchers of the drinks at the tables to refill yourself which is great so you don't have to wait for them to come back with refills, however they don't really even come back to check on you knowing you have beverages on your table for your disposal. If my parents hadn't have said they enjoyed their food I wouldn't hesitate to leave a

This place never disappoints. You get a salad, mind you it has no real nutritional value because they use cheap iceberg lettuce, but crunchy just they same. The steaks are were it is at. I have had them all, form the 6 oz to the big bad boy Porterhouse. I get mine medium on the well side and they are still juicy and very tasty. Great for a single dinner up to large groups.

Peculiar to the area, conspicuous big red building. Food is wonderful, try their poppers! You can have an intimate formalish atmosphere to a very casual picnic type of seating. Food is great, price is pretty reasonable....just a great restaurant overall.

Food was great. My steak was seasoned nicely. The salad you get as a starter was fresh, and tasted refreshing. The rolls were pillow soft, piping hot, and I recommend you ask for some honey. Mmmmm they were perfect. Overall I love the feel, the food, and the price was reasonable. The food came out quick, it was a great experience. Can't wait to go back.

Texas Steakhouse Traveling from Tennessee, my husband and I were wanting a good Texas steak house to have supper. It was not what I expected at all. Very laid back, all the tables were picnic tables and the menu was on large boards the servers would place in areas for you to view. At seating, the server immediately brought us a beautiful salad with homemade dressing. The server took our order in a timely manner. When served with our meal of 8 oz rib-eye, the steak was thinner than I expected, but cooked to my preference of med-rare. There were no seasonings, no marinade, just meat. Very good meat! I did put a little salt and pepper on my steak, it's simply how I prefer it. Get ready for the best rolls you've ever had. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night with families and couples from all walks of life. The reason I didn't give a 5 star was due to the margarine served for the potatoes and rolls, butter would have been better. Also, the thinness and the unseasoned steak. Again, this could be the Texas way, but I'm a flavor fan! Well worth the trip!

No reservation party of 19.. makes you wait till ALL of your party is there. Understandable... but if you look at the picture would you pay $20+ for that "6oz" steak? the food was bland. Absolutely no flavor what's so ever. The baked potato was good but only after I added 3 tablespoons of butter and all the sour cream, cheese and bacon. Customer service was good and bad. Bad the host, who was either manager or just some old guy who was rude not just to us but other people waiting to be seated. Good was our server who was calm and collected. She gets the one star.

We have come to Little Red Barn for years. Today was top notch with service by Rudy. My father-in-law celebrating his birthday and had a table of 14, nonetheless Rudy handled very well and was very attentive. Surely, we thought he was as manager. To later find out, he simply took pride in what he was doing and took care of our table. I'll add he was very personable. Thank you for making a birthday, a special one, & look forward to coming back!

Not a place to go if you're looking for top-notch steaks. (That said, very few steakhouses actually meet expectations. You're better off grilling your own at home.) The food is okay, a B to B+ on most days. What you do get is a patient, accommodating waitstaff and a reliable place to take a big party. Few places can accommodate parties of 8+, and Little Red Barn seems to have little issue doing that.

My family and I stopped in while visiting Texas, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere was cool and fun. The down side was the food. Definitely tasted and looked like everything we ate was frozen. Which is disappointing being in Texas and is named a steakhouse. The price does not match the food quality.
