If you are like me and love games of all types, then you have a great place in Magic Beans Cafe to get your fix. There is a stocked sandwich/snack bar available for the late night events. There are board games as well as tables for dungeons and dragons stuff in the back room, too. The staff and people that come here are laid back and nice. You can always expect to be treated fairly and with a good attitude. I started playing Magic The Gathering card game back in 2000 or so and have been getting back into playing over the past couple of years. This has been my go to place in San Antonio to get all things MTG. They have various Magic sanctioned and casual events with times that are generally broadcast on their Facebook or Discord pages, so you can join those and be in the know! Even during COVID-19 Magic Beans Cafe is still going strong with MTG pre-order items for pick-up, online tournaments, and will getting into starting leagues soon! That's what the owner told me when I was there last week for picking up my box order. You can even stay sharpened up with your skills through the Magic The Gathering Arena computer program. Since, most games have turned online MTG has teamed up with local game stores like this one to provide Friday Night Magic (FNM) rewards that are redeemable in Arena. Whether you are new to a game or have been playing for many years you can feel comfortable here and they got you covered!

Went there back in high school, several years ago now. Played some Eldritch Moon standard and a draft. Looks like they've gotten a bit bigger since then, with the cafe part fully fleshed out, but even back then, it was a great local-game-store environment. Looking forward to going back soon to see what's changed.

Great location, great hours, great staff, great crowd. If you're looking for a nice spot to play D&D, Magic, Pokemon, board games, or even just hang out, here is a great place to do all of those things.

Definitely a cool spot to come and game for free. They have lots and lots of free games to play as well. Everyone is super nice and helpful and they have good snack for cheap. The only reason I dont give 5 stars is the bathrooms are viciously dirty.
