4.0 STARS. What a nice ole Cafe. Just like it should be. The corn bread is a mid but the biscuit is the best in the world! Ask for honey. The chicken fried chicken was good but not out of this world. It had good flavor and the quality of cut was nice and not frozen. I was hoping it was bigger. The breading on it was different. Maybe a touch of panko with flour? No idea, it was light and flaky.l and good. Gravy was gravy. The server was great but the time for food to table was poor. So poor our server brought us a free slice of cheesecake and boy was that amazing! It was one of the best cheesecakes in Texas! Order it! Enjoy!!!

We ordered the fish and chips and I was very disappointed. The lunch was a 15 .00 dollar plate. We literally had 1 small piece of fish that was small and order fries The fish (cod)was half batter and the half was fish that had very little taste. Order fried mushrooms and they didn't taste as good as they used to But the service was good .

This is the first time I have been back since they reopened. Sad to say that I will not return again. Got chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and veggies, as well as a half order of mushrooms with both gravy and ranch. The only thing that was edible was the veggies. They've changed the batter & steak on the CFS, and batter on the mushrooms. It was awful. Gravy changed too. I actually worked at both the original Mama's on San Pedro in 1981-82 and then at this Mama's Cafe location about 12 years ago. So I know how good it USED to be. I realize Cappy Lawton took over ownership again but the recipes have all changed, and not for the better. Spare yourself the time and money and don't bother. You'll be disappointed like I was.

If I could divide my rating, I would give our server (Pablo) 4 stars and the manager(s) at Mama’s ZERO stars. My father in law found a hair in his pancakes. They took the plate back and brought him a brand new plate of pancakes. As rare as it is to find hair in your food, it’s even more rare for it to happen again in who knows how many times eating out. But for it to happen again with the plate they brought out to replace the one with a hair….it almost seems intentional. Our server was all over it and took care of it. We weren’t charged for his plate and we took care of him when we paid. But would it hurt for someone in charge that day to come by and offer an explanation or apologize for what happened to what we believe may have been an intentional act (especially the second hair)? We were there for brunch to celebrate a birthday and we’ve been there several times before. To a person at the table….we all said there might be better choices when we go out to eat.

This is one of those places we're everything is so good on the menu, you're gonna wanna come back! Even the fresh house sodas are to die for. The shrimp & grits and patty melt is definitely my top favorites!

Went again tonight. And everything was fantastic. The drinks were good, 50% off wines on Wednesday, the delicious fired mushrooms, the salad, the redfish! I love this place!!

My wife and I decided to try this place out on a whim. So glad we did. Amazing food. Great people! Shout out to Bobbi Jo. Great, clean environment. We can't wait to come back again soon!

Had brunch here for a friend's birthday this past weekend. Parking is a bit tricky but we were able to snag a spot right in front. We had a reservation and were seated right away. I recommend making a reservation if you have a bigger group as there was a long line of people waiting to get in for breakfast. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with cowboy hats and boots and has a very upbeat atmosphere. Our server Pablo was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately I didn't love my food. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and was disappointed there wasn't any inside the pancakes and that they were plopped on top and cost an extra $1. My pancakes were very well done (almost burnt) and didn't have the best taste. I was given scrambled eggs instead of sunny side up but the server fixed it right away. The bacon was good but basic. My husband enjoyed his papas breakfast with chicken fried steak. Others in our group ordered the ranch hand breakfast and hellavu mess, and both looked so good! With our two entrees we also had two bloody Mary's which come loaded with olives, celery, bacon, and more - very nice! I also had an orange juice. With a bigger group we had the automatic 20% gratuity and even though they typically don't split checks for big groups, Pablo offered to do it anyway. Our brunch came out to $80 for the two of us. Not sure if I'll be back anytime soon but I'm glad we were able to celebrate our friend and try a new spot.

The website says all day breakfast but it's not all day it stops at 3 was very disappointed.. and prices are pretty high for the type of food they serve afterwards.
This was my last meal on my visit to San Antonio, and boy it didn't disappoint. The food and service were excellent! I had breakfast on that visit. I can't wait to come back and try lunch or dinner at this restaurant. 5 stars all the way!

We aren’t big diner people; however, when I saw their menu was marked with gluten free options, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing service, and careful consideration around our food allergies. Mira was knowledgeable of the menu and took to great care of us. The steak and eggs were perfect. Thank you, Mama’s cafe!Dietary restrictions: They were knowledgeable about gluten and dairy.
