As soon as you walk in, they make you feel like family! Small but cozy place . If a big table is available, they will ask you if it's OK to share the extra space with other patrons if they're willing as well before just sitting them down without ask first. Parking is very limited as well, but we have been lucky to get parking! It is a must place to try if you haven't tried it yet!

As a native San Antonian, I’ve never been able to check this place out. But this is one of those gems or “hole in the wall” places you hear about in legends and tales! After covid many of these treasures didn’t make it thru, but thankfully they did and are still rockin and rolling! The beans were were a hit (which if the beans aren’t good pretty much everything else isn’t) so of course the rice, home made flour tortillas, cheese, meat, gravy was spot on! Even the temp of the food was great, pipping hot, so it did t get cold on me quickly. The atmosphere is where it shines as you got the feeling you are somewhere that you’d want to hang out and take your time to eat and relax. I got to meet Maria herself and talk to her husband about his famous brisket and now I know you need to call ahead to make sure it’s ready. If the current Mayor eats here as well as local celebrities and even out of town athletes, then they must be doing something right! One last note, seating is limited as well as parking so you may have to wait but it’s worth it. Cash and card accepted as well as to go orders. A great experience!

If you love authentic delicious food, then this is the place for you! Made our way to this tiny San Antonio staple to try the very popular breakfast tacos! To say these did not disappoint and were scrumptious is an understatement! Maria and her daughter has really created quiet the place! It is quant and gets busy rather quickly but it is absolutely worth it! We had breakfast tacos, fries and brisket tacos. Even took some puffy tacos to go! The tortillas are soft and homemade. The ingredient used in the tacos were fresh and delicious! My daughter had the big breakfast taco and that thing was massive! So if you order it you better have plenty of room! My son in law had the brisket taco and some homemade French fries which were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and good! The salsa is legit! The green was my favorite and even though it gave me a runny nose it hit the spot! It is very very good! I highly recommend Maria's to everyone, and plan to make my way here again, before I leave SA! There's a reason this little spot was on Texas Country reporter and why it's so known amongst the locals! Go try Maria's! You won't regret it!

A coworker has been bringing me tacos from here the past couple of weeks. Those were amazing, so I decided to stop in. It's not far from my pad. First off, parking is small, so know that before you head out. There were about 7 small tables inside. It felt like I was in my grandma's kitchen, and sitting on someone's lap. Plates, salsa, tortillas and drinks were whizzing by my head, and I had to adjust my chair whenever someone walked by. I was born and raised in and around old downtown San Antonio, so that didn't bother me at all. I ordered a chorizo/egg, bean/cheese and a brisket taco. Tortillas looked like they were actually cooked on a comal, with toast points (not all white), and had a powdery feel to em. Brisket was super juicy, smoky & flavorful. Chorizo & egg was perfect. Bean & cheese was delicious, and they used the good cheese. Their hot sauce was kickin! I already knew that from the tacos my coworker brought me. I overdid the salsa on my chorizo taco and my nose was a little runny from the pica. Just how I like it! The owners and staff were super friendly and it made me a bit nostalgic for the old San Antonio spots. 10/10 would do again! It's now in my rotation of breakfast spots. Pay attention to the "off menu" menu when ordering.

It's a quaint restaurant with delicious food. They are willing to customize mains and sides for you. Great option for Tex Mex. Note that there is limited seating.

Such an interesting experience. I read in the internet that the New York times mentioned this place as one of their 25 favorite places to eat in the whole US. When I arrived, the owner greeted me and sat me down at the only empty table. Took my order and brought me coffee. I started talking to him. Very nice man. Told me about his service in the navy, his work in the railroad. He sat down with me and ate a banana, probably his breakfast, and made feel like I was part of the family. Very interesting experience. The food? I forgot about it enjoying the experience. Let me tell you, that brisket is the best. Very nice and tasty smokey flavor. Definitely a unique experience.

THIS PLACE IS ¡¡¡PURO SAN ANTONIO!!! Tiny and intimate, you feel like you're in an abuela's casita. I ate two hearty tacos for breakfast and my mouth had a gasm.I playfully cornered the daughter of this legendary mom&pop and asked "WHY. ARE. THESE. TACOS. SO. EFFING. GOOD????" She beamed with pride that her mom, Maria, comes in early every day and cooks with love. You can taste it in the food. The menu can be overwhelming so I suggest you decide on your preferred main ingredient (carne, pollo, chorizo, weiners, spam, etc.) and narrow the sprawling selection from there. And can't forget the proud pop of this place who is the welcome committee and responsible for the brisket that kept me delightfully full for the rest of the day.
