A quick drive by breakfast enroute to Saturday shopping. Great flour tortillas as usual. I thought food needed basic seasoning, salt n pepper. My companion complained barbacoa taco way too greasy. I disagreed. I had potato n egg on flour. Prices reasonableGood location. Easy access by public transportation and handicap friendly. Most certainly neighborhoods favorite.

Where do I start. My family has been going to Mary Lou's for many years. The best tortillas anywhere. Family recipe that can't be beat. The carne guisada is so tender. Enchiladas are delicious. Breakfast , lunch , or dinner. This place is just fabulous food. You can go spend your money on the big names throughout San Antonio but the quality of the food doesn't come close to what you will get here. They serve margaritas and other beverages. I love the Southside location but they also have another on McCullough. Same quality of food at both locations. They are just that good they had to expand. The service is just as good as the food. You won't regret it and you will become a regular customer too.

Food tasted old and reheated. Menudo tasted like pure chili powder . When food is your business and you can't get it right....close it down and save yourself the embarrassment.

Not terrible food, but the quality has dropped dramatically since new management/ownership took over. Use to go often for breakfast, but the last 2 times I’ve gone within this month.. the carne Guisada wasn’t bad, lacked flavor and gravy seemed a bit watery. I would not recommend the bacon and egg tacos as each time I’ve ordered them, it’s been dry bacon (jerky consistency) with cold over cooked eggs.Overall I would not recommend and will be finding another spot for breakfast tacos.

I also grew up eating here on the South Side of SA. The new owner which I relieve is the daughter of the OG owner is so money hungry! I ordered a lengua taco (which I’ve always ordered and have eaten up to three) and I did not like it. It was super salty and tasted reheated. I asked to EXCHANGE it for an asada taco. When the waitress took the taco to the kitchen I saw the new owner get up from the cash register and followed her to the kitchen. The waitress then returned and said they would not remove the lengua taco because they had just cooked it yesterday. I got so upset! So the owner wanted to charge me for a taco I was not going to eat along with the replacement taco! I canceled the asada and unfortunately had to pay for the lengua taco. Losing a regular customer over $4 (mind you this place is pricy AF) is ridiculous. Do not recommend since we only really go there when our favorite restaurant just up the street (Nico’s) closes Thursdays. Will be going elsewhere

Worst heartburn food ever. Went here with coworkers for lunch. Waited 50 minutes for food, asked to get it to-go waited longer. We were all charged 18% gratuity. Didn’t even ask for a refill until the very end yet waitress made at least $20 tip. Cashier was rude saying well it was almost ready. Paid took it Togo but will never return. Beware just saying

Been going to this restaurant for years and years; way back when it was called Mary Lou's. Things have changed - first of all the menudo; Mary Lou's was the only place we would eat menudo from, but recently, Mary Lucas started using honeycomb menudo and it is gross. So we have not ordered menudo in several months. I might suggest to just cook menudo with menudo, NO honeycomb.Second of all we work right across the street from Mary Lucas. Often we are unable to get away from our desk and often we have asked if Mary Lucas will deliver as we are simply across the street and the answer was no and continues to be no. So they will loose customers. They should really consider delivery, at least to businesses across the street from their location.Wheelchair accessibility: This business has no wheelchair accessibility/no handicap ramp. So coming down the stairs with a bag and teas in your hand is very difficult. They should invest in making a ramp.

Ordered huevos rancheros to go. No ranchero sauce, eggs and potatoes cold. Called to make it right they said no sorry but no. I go there at least twice a week they are not the cheapest but it is normally good. Will go there no more.
