For several years my family came to this location as it operated as Martha's Mexican Restaurant. It was literally 3 minutes from our home and "go to" staple of San Antonio style Tex - Mex so understandably a favorite. But , we noticed a decline in the restaurant 7 years before it was closed for good. Our hopes were reignited once we learned the location was reopening with a limited menu of Martha's classic dishes along with new trendy menu items as well. Per , Friday night family we decided to try Mi Gente. It's counter service ordering , assigned a order number to place on the table. Filled or own drinks. Soon the complementary made in house chips and salsa arrived. The table salsa is so nostalgic of Martha's, I would even say signature. It's done " crudo ' so all the ingredients are fresh and uncooked, blended well. We did note that this iteration salsa had more heat than the O.G. version. All of us devoured the opening courtesy appetizer. I ordered 3 cheese enchiladas a la carte with fresh onion topping and chili meat gravy. My son had his usual 2 carne guisada tacos. My husband, the enchiladas rancheras plate nicely filled with chicken and ample topping of ranchera sauce, rice , refried beans and 2 flour tortillas. My son said his carne guisada was tasty and tender , but struggled with the beef tips being larger than the size of his bite. He also said the flour tortillas were thick , tough , chewy and on the dry side. My husband worked onhis entree, but ate only half because there were 3 enchiladas on that plate order with no real outstanding flavor. He didn't care for the rice . He said it was dry and heavy on comino , the refried beans were flat. I was anticipating the same cheese enchiladas in meat gravy to be as delicious and similar to Martha's. It wasn't to be. As soon as my plate arrived , the first thing I noticed was an gold - orange oil ring 3/4 inch surrounding my 3 enchiladas making them look like an island in the middle of the plate. The tortillas were well cooked and the cheddar cheese was the "Goldilocks" amount per each enchilada. The chili con carne gravy looked inviting. But my initial bite was so salty, due to the gravy I understood that I was not going to fully enjoy my plate. My husband who works in the food industry as a sous chef , did have a legitimate explanation for this. The restaurant closes at 9. We arrived around 7:40 p.m. He concluded that that batch of chili con carne had probably been on a warmer most of the evening, so it reduced. All it's stock or moisture evaporated over the hours and concentrated the spices in it, predominantly salt . We probably will not return. But wish this new business the best.

Food was incredibly flavorful and modestly priced. Was disappointed there were no Spurs or Jesus murals on the walls. The bathrooms were exquisite.

I went with my grand daughter because I was craving crispy tacos, they were full of meat & of course the rice & beans were delicious and serves a lot. I ordered 6 bean & tacos to go and wow, they were so big, heavy & delicious. The place is very clean & beautiful decorations. The chair seats are concha’s. Everyone was super nice & I will definitively go back.

Unique spins on traditional Mexican food. Tried the beanershnitzel enchiladas, chopped hot dog pieces inside a traditional enchilada sauce and toppings. Flavorful rice and borrcho beans. Pollofrito taco also very good. Lots of other different items on the menu. Will try some other items on another visit.

We went there because we saw it on TV on the bucket. And it looked really good on TV and when we got there. The chicken on the stick was way too big and burnt. And the corn dogs, the crispy dogs were greasy. Yes, could be really bad, never returning. What do you want to try?

Horrible service! We can not tell you about the food after 1 hour 20 min later no food. Manger is a blame shifter saying “ she should have told you it was an hour wait not just to us but others. As if it’s ok. We asked for a refund took an extra 20 min to try to figure out how to refund us all but our drinks. And it hotter than out side in there. Don’t waste your time !! Picture of my empty hand! We had no food.

Ordered the El Classico cheese enchiladas, refried beans, rice, Picadillo taco. The beans were just bland with no flavor, did not even eat them. As for the taco, bland no flavor adding salt and pepper made it palatable! The cheese enchiladas did not have enough chili con Carne to give them more flavor! The rice was the best part of the meal! For it being my first time visit. Totally disappointed with my order! Loved the upgraded atmosphere and new furniture! Better improvements over the old Martha's restaurant.
