Soda machine was dirty, you could see the mold where the ice falls from. Service was quick, price was a little high for the amount of food you get. The sausage is delicious and the brisket is good.

Location was recommended and I tried it out. The pork ribs meat fell off the bone, smoked chicken, yummy sausage, and quality brisket. YES, I’m definitely coming back. Looks old, but it’s definitely a hidden gem. I also noticed the Blue Plate Awards on the walls

Great BBQ! My brisket sandwich was so moist with tender meat and crunchy bark. Smoked perfection.I only wish they had baked potatoes stuffed with meat.

The man in front taking orders was extremely rude.Food was disgusting.Bbq was dry and all fat.Bbq sauce tasted awful.Potatoe salad tasted weird.Overall experience was terrible.Save your money and time. This place sucks!I payed 30 dollars and all I could eat was the pickles. Never again.

The service was bad, staff is very rude. Asked what their recommendation off the menu, they recommended trying another place.

This used to be a good place to buy BBQ. But now it’s not as good as before. $23.00 for a plate with brisket slices cut wrong with the grain instead of against the grain which made it difficult to eat and that had more fat than meat is a waste of my money. I’d rather go to Bill Millers. They’ve done lost my business until their quality of food changes. I feel ripped off ?

This used to be the best bbq in texas. I have been going there for the last 20 years, always had 24 hour smoked brisket, super moist, fall apart flavorful, constantly spritzing the meat. On this visit, 3 bbq brisket sandwiches (super dry, tough, not much smoke, not very flavorful) Definitely not the same brisket of the past 20 years. There were 2 black guys that worked there for both 20 years , a large round guy who got promoted to manager, and a super skinny guy. They were the lifeblood of this establishment. (if anyone knows if they went to another bbq spot please let me know) The asian guy bought it in 2013, and kept on the original crew and quality for a few years yet he seems to be grumpy and disgruntled these days, and the old staff doesn't seem to work there anymore. We pulled up and his current employee is sitting out on the steps smoking a joint the size of a cigar, wife had to roll up the windows with our son in the car while I went inside to get our food.We won't be going here again unfortunately, it seems many of the reviews in the last year echo the same insights. Sadly to say, as this used to be my favorite and I would have driven hours to get to the old smokehouse.

As an out-of-state visitor to San Antonio and a fan of barbecued meat, I wanted to experience the Texan style of BBQ. Looking at various reviews for this and other BBQ restaurants, I noticed a range of opinions about most BBQ restaurants, including this one. I'm not qualified to judge the finer qualities of Texan BBQ cuisine, but I will say I enjoyed the meat offered by the Old Smokehouse. It seemed well cooked and very savory. I had the brisket and pork shoulder. I don't typically eat pickles and onions with my BBQ, but I found that agreeable. The sauce was great. The potato salad had a distinctly different flavor from what I'm used to, but it was still enjoyable. My two meats, two sides meal was more than filling. The price seemed reasonable.

Horrible!!! Please do not eat here. The meat was dry and disgusting, not to mention overpriced. The potato salad was bland. The only thing that was decent was the green beans and sausage, other than that, save your money.!

Customer service was horrible , the Asian man in the front was rude. BBQ beans are dry and taste like boracho beans , potato salad is overpowered by bell peppers and is just a cold mashed potato. Chicken is dry, brisket is dry. Sausage and cream corn were the only good items. I wouldn’t recommend spending $100 dollars on this family pack. The establishment is very dirty dust all over everything
