My wife ordered a meal (halibut) that was listed as “gf” on the menu. We asked our waiter if the meal was gluten free and he said yes. When it was brought out, the sauce, a key component of the meal, was in a side dish and the waiter told us the sauce was not gluten free. Pretty annoying to have the meal listed as gluten free on the menu and to have the meal confirmed as gluten free by the waiter only to find out that really wasn't the case. In addition, the broccolini that came with the meal was like warm, at best. We brought this to the attention of our waiter. He didn't seem to care that much but told us he would send the manager by. The manager hung around our area for a while until we called for me. We relayed our concerns with him...and again, didn't seem to care. This was our third time to Ostra. The first two being amazing. So, this visit was disappointing. The salmon belly crudo was fantastic. If it weren't for the rest of our experience, we would have gone back the next day just for the crudo.
The oysters were very fresh. We ordered the tuna tacos and they were not as good as they have been in the past. The redfish was a bit of a disappointment. Services was excellent!
After being seated staff forgot us. Needed to go to staff at front to request service , she was busy feeding the squirrels, she asked me who our server was, his name and what he looked like. Server was in a meeting and apparently no one else was available however restaurant clearly was not busy.
Great food and better service. Also vegan options for my wife. Gilbert was a great waiter.
Great choice of drinks. Clam Chowder was fantastic and the Halibut was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend dinner / call ahead for reservation if possible.
Outstanding service. Oysters on the half shell were delicious (Canadian and East Coast). Great blackened redfish and the seafood plateau was tons of food. Price was pottery much what you'll pay anywhere else. Outstanding Old Fashioned cocktail. Great Malbec wine. Only 4-star comment was the tables for two against the exit doors with unattractive lighting. We moved to a booth. Will definitely go again. Cool weather prevented us from wanting to sit outdoors.
Our waiter was very professional and attentive. The food was excellent. The manager was very accommodating to our needs. A classy and refined restaurant.
Breakfast was exceptional. I had s delicious waffle with a side of sausage. Only criticism was that sausage wasn't even warm. My husband had the All-American with poached eggs and he said it was great. Really crunchy on the outside country potatoes. I had a delicious latte also.
We ordered cocktails from the host and waited about 15 minutes before the waiter finally came over—without our drinks. Then proceeds to tell us they are out of oysters. The name of the restaurant is OSTRA. How do you run out of oysters? Waited another 10 minutes before drinks finally arrived. I ordered the scallops. This dish cost $43 for 4 scallops the diameter of a quarter. It was just OK. Other dishes ordered were Denver steak—just OK and lobster roll that was not good. Waiter didn't come by once during dinner. We should have just gone to Boudro's, Landry's or even Joe's Crab Shack. Save your money.
My server Eunice was amazing, she gave me honest suggestions for choosing menu options. My main dish was shrimp and lobster tacos, they were good but could have arrived with warmer tacos, the dessert Pistachio ricotta cake was excellent. Lovely siting on the river on a beautiful day, can't beat the location and they give you 3 hour parking validation

We had a delightful experience at Ostra. The food was amazing. We started with oysters, which were fresh and tasty. I had a halibut, and my husband had the pork chops. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Our sever, Peter was very attentive. We were celebrating my birthday and had a really great time.
Service and Food was just over the top. What a Fabulous experience for Thanksgiving. Thank you Gilbert. Also the GM Steven was most gracious polite and professional. The whole experience was Lovely. Be back soon.
This was our 4th time visiting the restaurant on the river walk in 20 years. The first time was right at 20 years ago when the restaurant had a different owner/name. Our overall experience this past Tuesday evening was simply amazing. Each prepared dish was incredible and the service was excellent. We are contemplating going back to San Antonio for Christmas. Dinner at Ostra is a must for us.
Very nice vibe. Great breakfast options and large portions. Jacob D provided phenominal service! Would definitely come back?
