Legendary place known for their great food and atmosphere. We were there Valentine's Day 2026 and as per usual wenhad the Plato Amor with fajitas, jumbo bacon-wrappez shrimp, lobster tail and all the fixings.

Our sever was slow and seemed a bit new which explains the service.

We had a great meal and the only recommendstion I'd make is that they used to regularly have Mariachi's and now they seldom do. There were 2 guys that played four songs and that was it.

It would do Papasito's wise to pay to have Mariachi's there on a regular basis but especually on Valentine's Day.

In the future when deciding where to go that may make a difference since its already so expensive to eat out a value added service like that is critical.

I have never had worse Mexican food in my life in my 50 years of living in San Antonio. And when we walked in there was a smell like soapy moisturizer that still is fuming off our clothes. We couldn’t eat the chips either. I ate two and it tasted like bad oil. I wanted to leave, but we hoped it would be better. I got tacos and couldn’t eat the shells. Same with my son. My oldest son had quesadillas that were decent. My wife had to unwrap her flautas to eat the chicken inside because the wrapping smelled and tasted disgusting. Crazy thing was the place was packed. So disappointing and gross. Only positive was service. From hostess to wait staff. All were very nice.

A very traditional Texas Mexican restaurant. The shared fajitas platter was excellent.

The atmosphere is good, welcome. Lows the feel of the place. The food maybe good for meat lovers. I am a vegetarian and was visiting with my son. They have nothing on the menu for vegetarian people, I find it shocking in this age and time where there are a lot of vegetarian people. I only got a cheese quesadilla as that was the only veggie option in a menu of 4 pages. I sincerely feel they should add a some more options.

My husband and I just stumbled on this place and man was it a welcome surprise.

First off this place is expensive.

All these negative reviews are really just people not thinking that Mexican food should be expensive. The dishes with lots of meat range from $40-$100. I thoroughly enjoyed the selection. I enjoyed the quality and I would definitely come back.

A lot of the negative reviews focus around the wait time, the service, and the cost. I can’t see too much about the cost because in san antonio Mexican food is so fluctuating. I will say the service was phenomenal and if you had to wait for service, it was probably because they were insanely packed. We went when it was insanely packed during a rush-hour and we didn’t have to wait on our server. Our server was really nice about explaining everything in the dish and when we explained we could not eat pork, he then made sure to address not only if the dish had pork but also if the beans had pork and any possible situation where pork had touched the dish.

There was somebody in a review that claimed this place hated veterans because they couldn’t accommodate a last minute massive party. The claim is just kind of insane because if you don’t have a reservation, they can’t help you especially on busy nights, so get a reservation or be ready to wait. Same for the review mad that they could not accommodate during busy lunch hours. We are military and they gave us military discounts.

The food itself was great. The meat was cooked really well, the brochette was tasty. The queso with steak was quite memorable. Also their ice cream was amazing. Their drinks were also good. We got two entrées, queso, a drink and, a topo Chico and rounded out to about $114. It was really cool because a lot of those desserts people don’t know the names of so they bring out the plate and show you the dessert so you can see portion sizes, etc.

The Google maps to get there was a little complicated so it might take you to a backstreet. The great thing is you can park in the street and just walk there so if it takes you the back route do not fret just park on the street.

There is tons of seating inside and out. I was a little bummed, we went when it was cold so we had to be inside and the outside is so cool looking. I definitely wanna go back at night. I bet it’s so fun.
