The meat was extraordinary. The Barbacoa was amazingly tasty and delicious. The person that said the meat had no taste must of had covid. The health department rated 100 percent inspection. Am definitely coming back.

The chichrona sauce is the best tasting salsa in San Antonio. Barbacoa is on point too ?

I drove 21 minutes away to try this location because it had good reviews, but reviews without real people connected are not very reliable if you know what I mean. This place is expensive and gives very little. I find it hard to believe a pound of barbacoa fits into an extra small tray. I bought a 1/2 pound of lengua and 1/2 pound if tripas. The tripas were nothing but fat, and most of them were soggy, just boiled and not grilled. They had no taste. The barbacoa had no taste. The lengua had no taste. The pico de gallo had no taste. The red and green salsa had no taste. I tried the carnitas, no taste. I don’t know about you, but I expect flavor. I expect the barbacoa to have salt; otherwise, trying to add flavor at the end when all you want to do is eat, ruins the experience and also requires more salt than it would had they added it while cooking and less healthy to eat fresh salt instead of when it is flavored while cooking. I had to fix the salsas, fix the meats, and throw away most of the tripas. They also do not give you the full pound or half pound you pay for. If they do that to all people, they’re bringing in the cash. They’re slightly under, but per all the customers they do this to, it becomes a lot. The only good thing were the chicharrones which were very very delicious, finally found something with decent sense of seasoning in that place. The ladies I dealt with were kind. The three dollar avocados I bought made my breakfast! The corn tortillas were very good. Otherwise, it was a terrible experience this Sunday. I don’t like to pour in the salt. I expect flavor from the get go. It was my first and last experience, and I am not returning. I sincerely wish the family the best, but this barbacoa is not for me because I know how quality tastes.

The barbacoa wasn't that good, was too dry and didn't look fresh at all. Just tasted like fat. Never like Vera's BBQ. Ya'll can check on YouTube the way he preps his barbacoa.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Pops Babacoa is such an undiscovered gem in San Antonio, but I’m so thankful that my family and I discovered you some time back! I think we’ve tried just about everything that you guys make and us going back time after time should reflect how we feel about the food and the really awesome folks that represent this establishment. On top of great food and great people; Pop’s has integrated itself in the community as ‘family’, and actually care about their patrons. My cousin, whom I introduced to Pop’s one day as he joined us at breakfast, tasted and got ‘hooked’ with the chicharones en salsa that I had bought. Since that day, my cousin Ernest was found at Pop’s every single Saturday and sometimes on Sunday too! Pop’s showed this family and anyone else that would like to recognize, the kind of people that run this business when they not only showed up for his Celebration of Life funeral service, but sent a wreath to the funeral home to my cousin’s family to let them know they were feeling his loss too. I am thankful that Pop’s is a successful business in the San Antonio community, but I’m even more thankful that we have wonderful compassionate ‘friends’ in this community. For our breakfast this morning,…added a small order of chicharones en salsa in honor of my cousin.❤️
