Food was great and the server Victoria was excellent. Really enjoyed the vibe, Margarita got us right on the list and got our day off to a good start. Highly recommend.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch that reminded us of our trip to Germany. This was it! The food was terrific, the service was top notch, and the prices were fair.
We started with the sampler and our party of 5 obliterated it almost immediately. The pretzel was the perfect temperature and size. The meats were all cooked to perfection.
I had the schweineschnitzel. The outside was crunchy and the inside was moist. The sides were good but the pork was the absolute star.
We didn't realize they closed so early so they did start cleaning up around us but every staff member was so kind and insisted that we weren't an inconvenience and that they had to be there to clean up anyway and asked us not to rush. We will definitely return next year during our next trip.

Fantastic place to get breakfast in the San Antonio Riverwalk area. You have to try the root beer float! My daughter got the regular root beer float and I got the adult root beer float with alcohol and it was delicious!

I ordered one of the breakfast plates and added a brat for an additional $3. The food was really good but the root beer float was the real treat!

Really cool location with a lot of character and history. Definitely a unique spot and a must when visiting the San Antonio area. Keep in mind they serve breakfast all day but close relatively early.

Schilo’s is a fantastic place for delicious German food, great atmosphere and superb service (Thanks Joseph!)
Plus it’s very easy access to the San Antonio River Walk.
I have been waiting a long time to visit this place since I am in the area only every couple of years and it was worth the wait.
We will be back.

I had been a very long time ago. It wasn't as good as before. My plate was however my family's needed help. It lacked the love.

This is a casual, friendly and affordable German deli style diner.

The portions are good. The service was great.

My husband and I were visiting from NYC and here is our feedback about each menu item we ordered:

Deviled eggs: 6/10 (needed flavor)
Potato pancake: 7/10
Roast beef with gravy: 6/10
Red cabbage: 7/10
Cheesy spatzle: 6/10
Meatloaf:8/10
Sweet potatoes: 8/10
Root beer: 10/10

Overall it was a GOOD experience. Not great but we would come back if we're in the area.

We loved the scriptures on their menu and the fact that it's owned by a Vet. Thank you for your service! God bless you.

Grabbed lunch at Schilo’s Delicatessen—San Antonio’s oldest restaurant that serves German food with Texas flare. The portions were large, so had plenty of leftovers for dinner. Friendly service and good ambiance.

I had the sausage plate, German potato salad and sauerkraut. The sausages were dry and quite bland, even the brat. The rest was okay. My wife's chicken and dumplings however was pretty damn good.

We are breakfast and lunch here. The coffee was amazing. The food was great too. Breakfast was much better than lunch, but both meals were good.

During our mini pre-Thanksgiving vacation we chose to stop in during breakfast and lunch to try the oldest restaurant in San Antonio and boy, it didn’t miss!! The staff were friendly. The food was delicious! My favorite was my sausage dog with sauerkraut!!
Can’t wait to come back to try more!

As the oldest restaurant in San Antonio, I wasn't expecting much more than a diner and burnt coffee. Schilo's impressed me with the high quality Reuben, house made root beer, and well made coffee. Really good food all around.

I will definitely be back when I'm in San Antonio!
