Pretty clean and the inside was on par with other Shipley locations.I don't know if it was on off day or not, but the Kolache was very doughy like it wasn't cooked long enough, and the doughnuts were not as fluffy as im used to for Shipley Donuts. Again, like they weren't cooked long enough. First time coming to this location.

Sitting cashier and bad service. Old donuts. Terrible treatment. Empty place and with zero education the skinny oriental cashier they have who seems to work for free. The donuts are very expensive and old

Best early morning when the donuts come out piping hot and the icing is just rolling off the donut after being ripped because they are too hot for the icing to harden. Yummy! This is a Shipley's but actually owned by the family who runs it. They work very hard to meet the expectations of Shipley's lovers. And they have also become a staple in our little city within a big city. Alamo Heights and Terrell Hills residents alike visit this location on weekends to make Saturday mornings special for the whole family. Especially after the Mules stomp the fields on a Friday night. My favorite are the apple fritters, the raspberry filled with icing, omg the piping hot donut holes is my absolute favorite since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and the original plain old glazed donut. Don't fret if you don't like my favs. Stop by and try them yourself and make your own list of favs. Did I mention they have kolaches and other breakfast sandwiches? The kolaches are good but when I go I'm going for donuts to satisfy a sweet craving. When your sweet cravings hit head over to Austin Hwy. and try Shipley's (Across from Whataburger & next door to Papa John's).They have indoor tables if you want to sit and eat there. On weekends there is a line at the door sometimes leading out and around building, but it moves fast, really fast actually. No mask is required to enter, they serve soft drinks, tea, coffee and juices, clean restrooms, clean inside and outside of establishment with wheelchair accessible entry and exit and there is plenty of parking including handicap in parking lot.

Went inside wanting what I always called old fashion donuts. The young girl behind counter wasn't friendly at all it seems like you incounter that more and more in today's world. So I picked some donuts the cinnamon twist was excellent. When I was leaving I say the donuts I want under front counter I told her that's what i want and she was very blah and told we they were cake donuts. She still didn't understand what I wanted because I told her plain donuts with nothing on them I will go back for cake donuts and cinnamon twist but girl behind counter need a new job that she doesn't have to deal with the public.

I've tried donuts from here multiple times since I moved to San Antonio, and the quality is consistent: bad.A few things are obvious, like the oil being too hot and most of the donuts are over cooked or even burned. A few things are a more nuanced, like the oil is bad and gives all the donuts a bad flavor regardless of whether they were over cooked or not. The final took me a few tries to pinpoint, but it's telling across both donuts and kolaches; the dough is overworked. All of their pastries have a tougher chewy texture. There are other things that are more subjective based on my personal preferences. The amount of filling is not very much. The icing isn't consistent from visit to visit. Try donuts somewhere else, and if you prefer Shiplet's then maybe you should try to avoid this location.

*POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BE AWARE OF EARLY CLOSING*Store hours posted on door indicate this store should be open until 5pm. Arrived at 4:45p, and place was empty, doors locked. Update hours to avoid frustrated would-be customers.

This place looks so run down and workers look like they hate their job

The best donuts in San Antonio, and now they have one in Austin Highway!

I've been going here for years, always paying in cash and leaving a nice tip, but that ended this morning. The young woman at the counter took my $10 bill down to a far register and returned with change for a $5 bill. Once they take your cash and walk away with it, you have no evidence of what you gave them. I may go back someday, but it will be with a credit card.

Really...????? A dot of Bavarian Creme in every donut I ordered. This is the whole reason of a Bavarian Creme filled donut. Disappointed
