I visited there other location. I was not impressed. I was told they were about to close the location. I love soul food. I came in to get airmiles points since they are on most of the airlines dining programs. However, their credit card machine did not work. Some of the food looked like it was sitting around. Service to get drinks took a while. I'll probably give them another chance at this main location. But so far its been average. The main location is usually crowded with limited parking.

My wife and me dined here yesterday 12/142022 for brunch. First off let me tell you that upon walking in, could feel the positive energy. They had soothing jaZZ music from the band that ran through my body and brought me joy. Our server Sonny was very kind, good knowledge with menu and kept coming back to check on us. My OX tails were impressively cooked to perfection, I wanted to go back for seconds however I was just plain ole stuffed after my first serving. The Catfish was also tasty and the eggs and bacon were as fresh as from the farm. I will definitely come again on future visits to SA and will tell my friends to try it out if they come here. Loved supporting a GREAT black owner biz.

The service was great and the servings were large, restaurant was busy but we were seated right away and didn’t take long to get food.

This was our first time trying soul food--and it did not disappoint. It is worth a visit for the corn bread muffins alone! Moist and sweet, we could have ordered a dozen more, and apparently that's what many people do. Enjoyed my friend catfish and mashed potatoes as well. Epitome of comfort food. Would go again the next time I'm in San Antonio. Oh! And the service was attentive, fun and charming!

The staff was the best, food second, atmosphere third and live music was good also but to loud for visiting with guest. Thanks for being there........Jj

A good lunch option near Downtown in a part of the city that is starting to gentrify (for better or worse), come here for lunch and you won't leave hungry. I wouldn't classify it as a "hole in the wall" because inside it's actually quite modern and well maintained, with slick decor and quick service. Prices are decent and the chicken is really good. I'll definitely go back. For Covid, they require masks and have a sanitize station when you walk in, but some of the tables are pretty close together. There is a small outside patio n front, but it wasn't being used the day we were there at lunchtime.

I haven't gotten to try them yet, but wanted people to know they are expanding. Christmas day, coming back from Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, I drove up Walzem. On the building that housed the former China Harbour Buffet, they now have a sign for Mrs. Kitchen. Can't wait to try it based on reviews.

In San Antonio at the state basketball tournament looking for a place to do lunch. This place has a bus outside the Alamodome that shuttled us to and fro. Once there, we opted for the Friday buffet, man, it was good. The greens were amazing as was the cornbread. I then washed it down with sweet tea that was elite. The cherry cobbler finished me. Another fine dining experience.

The atmosphere was really good as the musicians did an amazing job. Service was nice........the food was not up to par for $22 a plate.

Four out of the six people in our group agreed the cheese grits are the best they ever had. The other two one was a six year old kid and me....I wanted the pancakes....It was worth the stop. Its oe of the places when I am in San Antonio againit will get a drop by....

Picked this place based on TripAdvisor reviews and I was not disappointed. Its not fancy inside or out and parking is tough, but the food makes it all worthwhile. The smothered pork chops and fried chicken were outstanding. Save room for dessert!
